diane + connor | a timeless + classic kent island resort wedding

Weddings at Kent Island Resort are always stunning but this particular February afternoon was bright, crisp, and sunny — the perfect weather for a winter wedding in Maryland!

Trust me when I say, Diane + Connor’s wedding was one you don’t want to miss if you like classic, timeless and monochromatic details full of romance and golden light…

Being around Connor and Diane is so much fun; love and happiness simply radiate off of them. This sweet couple is so gentle and kind with one another – which makes them such a joy to photograph! In fact, I have been waiting for this wedding since the gorgeous summer night that we strolled downtown Annapolis, taking their engagement photos by the water.

There was a lot of love and excitement in the air with a feeling of calmness. You could tell that Connor + Diane were just so ready to become husband and wife!

10 Memorable Moments and Elements from Diane + Connor’s Kent Island Wedding

  1. Everything, from the flowers to the decor to the Rolls Royce, was designed in different shades of white. It was timeless, elegant and classic, keeping the focus on Diane + Connor and the incredible love they share!

  2. Diane + Connor got ready at the Kent Island Resort, with Diane in the Farmstead Building, a white-washed, modern barn and Connor at the Inn, surrounded by lush gardens and views of the Chesapeake Bay.

  3. They kept their wedding party simple, with just a Maid of Honor and Best Man; it created a relaxed and intimate feel to the entire day. Without the hustle and bustle of a lot of other people running around, Diane + Connor were able to focus on each other and the emotional moments they were about to share.

4. One thing that was not simple? Saint Mary’s Parish in downtown Annapolis, the incredible and ornate church where the ceremony was held! Talk about breathtaking! From the picturesque ceiling to the mosaic tile floor – it’s easy to understand why Diane said she was most looking forward to this part of the day!

5. An officiant can really make or break your wedding and this priest was honestly one of the best! Before the wedding, Diane mentioned that this particular Father really loves love and it was obvious! He was so excited to join these two together in marriage and it was sweet to see. The perfect start to their lives together!

6. After the ceremony, we got some great shots in the courtyard of St. Mary’s church and on the front steps before heading back to Kent Island for the reception.

7. Speaking of heading back… Diane + Connor rode in style with a vintage white Rolls Royce! Diane truly looked like a classic Hollywood movie star and this car added to that elegant feeling!

8. Simple, yet sparkly, Diane’s dress suited her personality perfectly. She left her hair down in loose curls with a timeless floor-length cathedral veil. Combined with her strappy Badgley Mischka heels and simple, yet elegant, diamond tennis bracelet and earrings, she was stunning. She also wore a fur stole that was the perfect addition for this winter wedding!

9. The cake was enormous! All three tiers were an ivory color with white flowers cascading down the side. It was simple, clean, and elegant – exactly like the rest of the wedding!

10. One of the best things about weddings at Kent Island Resort is the variety of photo opportunities the spacious and picturesque venue provides. We took advantage and snuck away from the reception to grab some portraits on the pier. The warm, golden hour glow on the water was just a dream.

Diane + Connor, I hope you love these photos as much as we enjoyed capturing them for you! Your wedding was the pinnacle of classic, timeless, sophisticated perfection. You are a beautiful couple, full of so much love and happiness. It was an absolute honor to be there for you on your big day. You make a fabulous team and I wish you nothing but the best!

xoxo,
Naomi

abbie + kyle | a modern boho wedding at wyndridge farm

Abbie + Kyle are a couple that never stops laughing, but their bright and beautiful blue-skied wedding day was no joke… it was actual perfection!! Not a cloud in the sky, a radiant bride and groom with a wedding party of more than 20 of their closest friends and family members, the most gorgeous sunset and golden hour portraits and a relaxed and sentimental feel to this romantic boho wedding day at Wyndridge Farm; it all felt like a DREAM!

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to share some of my favorites from Abbie + Kyle’s stunning October wedding — it was one I won’t soon forget!

8 MEMORABLE MOMENTS AND DETAILS FROM ABBIE + KYLE’S WYNDRIDGE FARM WEDDING

  1. Abbie kicked off the morning by popping champagne with her best ladies by her side in the garden at Wyndridge Farm.

  2. She then won the award for the most organized bride with the most details for me to photograph. Abbie proceeded to unpack 3 separate (and huge) very organized storage boxes full of:

3 pairs of shoes, 2 dresses (with a pearl hanger!), a personalized denim jacket with pearls, an invitation suite she designed herself with copper, terracotta, jade green and peach accents, extra ribbon, dried florals and greenery, an antique gold tray for her jewelry, vow books, a pearl clutch, multiple ring boxes, perfume, wax seals and more… I loved every single piece!

  3. Abbie made all the wedding signage (to compliment the invitation suite) including an amazing champagne seating card display for all their guests and drink signage at the bar that incorporated both of their pups.

  4. To honor Abbie’s late brother, his 3 best friends walked Abbie down the aisle one at a time, to meet her dad.

  5. Kyle’s reaction upon seeing his beautiful bride coming closer… not a dry eye for miles!! This was after an emotional first touch while reading notes from each other before their pastor led them in an intimate prayer circle.

  6. Forte Florals created the most beautifully whimsical and romantic boho florals that were not only in the bouquets, but lining the ceremony aisle and hanging from above the outdoor chapel: eucalyptus, baby’s breath, pampas grass and textured flowers in shades of orange, rust, peach, coral, terracotta and marigold.

  7. The largest dessert table I’ve ever seen with a 2-tiered cake and HUNDREDS of bite-size treats (cannolis, brownies, cupcakes, whoopie-pies… plus more I don’t know the names of)!

  8. As an alternative to a sparkler exit that was just as photogenic and fun but made a lot less mess and had no safety concerns… tinsel gold wands for every guest! The DJ handed them out on the dance floor during the last song and then everyone lined up on the patio steps to send the happy couple off!

Cheers to you, Mr. + Mrs. Micik!!! Your wedding day was absolutely incredible — so full of love, joy, beautiful handmade details and meaningful moments we were SO grateful to be a part of. If you continue to dance and laugh through life together even a fraction as much as you did on this day, you’re doing it right!

ps: Clover and Nala are so lucky to have the best parents!! ;)

madeline + jacob | intercontinental wharf wedding in dc with fall colorado vibes

On a breezy and bright blue-skied early October Saturday, Madeline and Jacob became husband and wife in front of not only their closest friends and family, but the cutest retro s’mores camping trailer and the glistening waterfront of the DC Wharf…

The inspiration for their elegant and cozy Fall wedding celebration was all thanks to the start of their relationship taking place in Colorado; M+J’s first date involved leaf peeping, so incorporating all the Fall vibes into their wedding day was Event Planning DC’s task and they crushed it, as usual!

I couldn’t be happier to share these favorites from their wedding —it was such a memorable day for such sweet families coming together!

5 MEMORABLE MOMENTS AND DETAILS FROM M+J’S WEDDING AT THE INTERCONTINENTAL WHARF DC

  1. Jacob was so emotional during the ceremony… which is proof that by doing a first look, it doesn’t mean your partner won’t be emotional when they see you walk down the aisle!!

  2. Madeline’s grandma was their flower girl and had a smile on her face from start to finish down the aisle!

  3. Their favorite local musician, Cris Jacobs, played at the ceremony and cocktail hour.

  4. The florals + greenery were so lush and full of Fall colors and textures; the chuppah was made up of white birch posts topped with flowers in shades of dark orange, gold, mustard, ivory and soft dried grasses.

  5. The reception ballroom was incredibly cozy, romantic and elegant! With tables full of colored amber and green glassware, gold placesettings and garlands of greenery on the table as well as hanging above the head table with hanging candles, I couldn’t get enough!

Congrats again, Madeline + Jacob! It was such an honor to document your wedding day and be a part of the official start to your MD adventures as husband and wife!

I hope you both continue to enjoy making each other laugh and dancing with Laila, for decades to come!!

xo,
Naomi

alicia + jarett | navy blue and terracotta fall wedding at the winslow

“Jarett has legitimately the best smile and laugh on the planet, he can make the worst days better with just one smile…”

Alicia and Jarett’s wedding day was full of all the best things on the planet: excitement, passion, emotion, laughter, fun (I’ve never seen so many people dancing down the aisle!), wine, happy tears, dancing and a love story 10 years in the making.

I can’t wait to show you these early favorites from the most gorgeous Fall day, when Alicia and Jarett became husband and wife!!

5 MEANINGFUL MOMENTS AND DETAILS FROM A+J’S OCTOBER WEDDING AT THE WINSLOW

  1. To honor Jarett's late mother who passed away from 9/11 related cancer in 2020, she wore her shoes and tennis bracelet as well as carrying a picture of her on a charm tied around her bouquet

  2. The radiant joy on Jarett’s face as Alicia walked up the aisle to meet him… not to mention the excitement of all of the wedding party as they made their way up the aisle! The clapping, the enormous smiles, the flower man’s dance moves — it was all so heartwarming!

  3. When Alicia + Jarett saw the reception space before their guests; the look on their faces at the reveal was just priceless!

  4. The color palette for their warm October wedding was full of terracotta, rust, burnt orange, cream, crimson red and navy; the groom wore a floral tie with a checkered navy suit.

  5. Their rooftop portraits as the sunset… a wedding at the Winslow wouldn’t be complete without these views! A+J went up to the roof right after ceremony once she was bustled and got to enjoy a few minutes to themselves before the party kicked off with their favorite people…
    10/10 recommend!

Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Henderson!!! It’s been such an honor to get to know you both and celebrate your love story… one that’s been so many years in the making! I hope you never stop dancing and secret handshaking through life!

Naomi

lee + dan | a heartfelt rustic fall wedding at cold saturday farm

Planning their October wedding at Cold Saturday Farm for 2 years, Lee and Dan FINALLY got to celebrate with all their favorite people on a beautifully romantic Saturday afternoon with cloudy skies and a lush garden backdrop at this historic and serene property…

It was truly incredible; the rain came down heavily in the morning but paused midday for us to take advantage of portraits of these lovebirds (and their families and wedding party!) with the rolling hills and tranquil farm as the perfect backdrop.

5 MEMORABLE MOMENTS AND ELEMENTS AT LEE AND DAN’S WEDDING:

  1. The excitement on their faces as they saw each other for their first look and were pronounced husband and wife… Lee, your expressions were priceless and adorable!

  2. With misty rain in the forecast, the ceremony moved to the renovated white barn (it previously housed horse stables!) with industrial glass garage doors that let in tons of natural light… it was so elegantly simple and intimate with everyone gathered under the exposed white roof structure and glowing chandeliers.

  3. The way Lee and Dan entered their reception tent set the tone for the rest of the evening… the DJ immediately opened the dance floor so everyone could get up and join them at the start; the energy level was incredible! They prioritized nonstop dancing fun and designed their reception to encourage that!

  4. The food everyone really wants to enjoy at all times: a nacho bar + an Asian fusion taco truck, apple fritters + ice cream sammies for dessert (FYI: you don’t need to do a cake if you’re not cake people! I love how Lee and Dan prioritized the food they love and local businesses were at the forefront of that!) with signature drinks named for their pups, Fancy + Barkley.

  5. Lee and her Dad had THE best father daughter dance with personalized Orioles jerseys and lots of O’s magic vibes!

Congrats again, cuties! #HappHealyEverAfter couldn’t be more true!! You both are the epitome of fun, thoughtfulness, compassion, kindness, love and boundless passion for all of the incredible causes you support with your time and energy. It was an honor to photograph your wedding day and I can’t wait to continue to witness all the big and small things you do together!

joslyn + andrew | a jewel-toned wedding at the assembly room

On the last Saturday in September, Joslyn and Andrew said ‘I Do’ while their closest family and friends cheered them on and partied all night under the most beautiful twinkle lights and with the best dance moves as the Onyx Band (my favorite!) performed at the Assembly Room in downtown Baltimore…

But what really stole the show were 2 moments for me: the first being the moment Andrew saw Joslyn at their first look on the promenade… his speechlessness said it all! And the second being the way they look at each other and are filled with so much love, joy, kindness and humor, it simply radiates from them (just look at this first photo!).

Here is a little bit from what their wedding day looked like!

lily + andy | a joyful + modern haven street ballroom wedding

Lily and Andy are the real deal, jumping for joy so high while in their wedding attire, multiple times indoors and outdoors… they have a tradition of jumping photos at all major milestones (and if you’re wondering if they did some at their esesh, the answer is of course!) and I couldn’t love them more if I tried!

Disclaimer: no humans were photoshopped while jumping — all of the jumping photos we took throughout the day are true in height and leg stance!!

Not only are they incredible partners who share a love of travel and adventure (they’ve both gone to and lived in so many places, the list is amazing!), their dog Nyla, good food and of course, the love of family and friends. It was so memorable to witness the incredibly strong support they received on this day!

Enjoy these early favorite moments from Lily + Andy’s windy, warm and whimsical September wedding…

6 MEMORABLE MOMENTS AND DETAILS FROM THEIR HAVEN STREET BALLROOM WEDDING:

  1. A surprise temporary tattoo reveal of their #urbanrowpup Nyla, on their close friends’ arms and legs

  2. A bubble jump sendoff at their reception

  3. A bet as to how many times that day, Lily’s dad would cry happy tears 🥹

  4. Matching socks that L+A both wore with Nyla’s smiling face on them!

  5. When Andy and his groomsmen (and both dads!) decided to have fun in the hotel room and jump on the bed for some super casual and candid getting ready photos with their personalized beer steins! :)

  6. Lily’s bridal hairstyle was so unique and pretty! She had a braid on both sides that led to a ponytail with pearls woven into the braid.

Congratulations again, Lily + Andy! You two are destined for big things and so many incredible adventures together, the best is truly yet to come!! Thank you for giving us the honor of documenting such a fun and memorable day with you and your families… I hope you continue the jumping photo tradition for decades to come (every jump left me speechless)!

From the first time we met, their kind, compassionate, bubbly and passionate personalities have shown through every interaction. They are soulmates who share a deep love of faith, family and adventure — and their wedding at Wyndridge Farm was the perfect blend of all of those.

Here are some favorites for you to enjoy from their beautiful early September wedding!

8 MEMORABLE ELEMENTS AND DETAILS THAT MADE UP BRITTON + ANDREW’S ELEGANT FALL WEDDING:

  1. Britton illustrated the chapel from their venue to be incorporated into the design of their letterpress invitation suite as well as including copper wax seals with their monogram. She also hand-designed all of the signage and table numbers!

The color palette of the bridesmaids dresses, all of the florals and the reception tablescapes; warm, textured, rich and full of cozy Fall vibes with peach, mustard, rust, copper, ivory, gold, lush greenery… twinkle lights hung from the ceiling structure and candles at each table created such a romantic vibe!

  5. Britton had a lace heart sewn into her dress that was taken from her mother’s wedding dress material. She also had her own wedding dress custom designed to have pearls lining the back of the dress!

  6. Britton had a first look with her dad and twin brother and then not only shared a handwritten note with them, but welcomed their pastor in for prayer.

  7. Andrew wrote and performed a song for Britton on his guitar (just as he had done early on in their relationship), that he sung to her privately after the ceremony in the Inn at Wyndridge before their reception begun.

  8. They exited their ceremony with a confetti recessional and a passionate first kiss dip before leaving the chapel and at the end of the aisle!

Congratulations, Britton + Andrew!! You two are simply fabulous humans individually… and together as a married couple: watch out world! You’re destined for amazing adventures and I can’t wait to see what’s next for you both… thank you for allowing us to document all the love and joy that was present at your wedding, it was truly the best day!

Kristen and Eric were married at Belmont Manor & Historic Park on a sunny and warm, late summer Saturday.

It might have been super humid, but you’d never know — the dance floor never stopped!!

The entrance drive into the Manor immediately set the stage for a relaxed, joyful and beautiful celebration of love, friendship, dancing, sweet treats and fireball.

alli + jay | a fun and formal jewish wedding at the four seasons baltimore

Alli + Jay had the most beautiful sunny and warm June day for their fun and formal wedding at the Four Seasons in Baltimore; they were actually lucky enough to have TWO gorgeous wedding days in the last year (the first was an intimate brunch wedding in the sky lounge at Silo Point, thanks to Covid!) that were warm, full of happy tears and lots of mentions and moments with Midnight, their adorable cat…!

Enjoy these early favorites; I can’t stop smiling when I look at their first look sequence. Jay’s expression was everything!!

Oh and ps: you need to consider bringing in Coal Fire Pizza for a late night snack at your wedding. It was THE BEST and made for such fun photos… go see for yourself, below!

THE FIVE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS + DETAILS FROM A+J’S WEDDING AT THE FOUR SEASONS BALTIMORE

  1. Midnight the cat, was present as their cake topper, in their vows and as their signature cocktail, the Midnight Mojito!

  2. Alli’s adorable niece and nephew wore the best wedding attire (little boys in mini tuxes make me melt!), and the sweetest flower girls wore flower crowns to round out their wedding party

  3. Speaking of their wedding party, everyone wore black while the groomsmen wore fuchsia pink socks and the bridesmaids had vibrant pink, lavender and blush roses in their bouquets - so summery and romantic!

  4. Alli had a reveal with her bridesmaids after she got in her dress before sharing a special first look with her dad and then one with Jay; there were laughs, smiles and happy tears on repeat.

  5. When Alli and Jay entered their reception to Jay wearing a Nature Boy robe over his tux!

Mazel tov, Alli + Jay!!!

lauren + tony | a modern wedding at two industrial baltimore venues

On a bright and warm Friday in June, Lauren and Tony not only became Mr. + Mrs. Assadi, but they hosted the biggest and best party they could have ever dreamed of attending!

Lauren got ready in their Harbor Point apartment with views of the water and the city down below while Tony got ready at his brother’s house in Canton; both were modern, well-lit and spacious but most importantly, filled with so much joyful energy with their family and best friends surrounding them.

Before Lauren’s dad came to their apartment for their father daughter first look, we stepped out onto the balcony and took bridal portraits of Lauren and her lace bridal wings… it left us speechless before their first look on the water in Harbor East and ceremony on the Frederick Douglass pier, framed by historic ships.

Enjoy these early (and too many because I couldn’t narrow them down!) favorites from Lauren and Tony’s wedding day!

THE 5 UNFORGETTABLE DETAILS AND MOMENTS FROM LAUREN + TONY’S MODERN, COCKTAIL STYLE BALTIMORE WEDDING RECEPTION:

1. Their chic sense of style: specifically Lauren’s bridal wings, made from lace from her mom’s wedding dress (!), her bridesmaids in mismatched shades of light blue (her MOH sister was in a gorgeous floral patterned dress and both a bridesmaid and another sister wore a jumpsuit… LOVE!) and Tony’s classic tux with a fun pocket square fabric and cuff links that were a gift from Lauren on their first Valentine’s Day together; they say “from here to mars” in her handwriting

2. Their 240+ loved ones on the pier at their ceremony at Frederick Douglass officiated by Tony’s cousin Jamey and then the lounge seating and upscale vibe of the furniture throughout every single room of the Dye House at their cocktail style reception

3. Acoustic singer songwriter Brent Michael Wood arranged and performed a unique first dance song just for them

4. The hanging greenery above the head table against the textured, worn walls of the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House

5. Golden hour perfection under the arches where they got a chance to soak it all in as the sun set on their first official night as a married couple!!

Congratulations, Lauren + Tony! You did it… you hosted the most fun party ever and I hope you enjoyed every minute of this incredible day! Always remember to continue to savor and soak in the beautiful life you are building together. You have the love of so many friends and family surrounding you… from here to Mars… ;)

kristen + leo | a multicultural wedding at mt. washington mill dye house

On a bright, sunny Thursday in early June, Kristen + Leo became husband and wife! Their wedding was one full of romance, fun and a celebration that brought both of their families together in a way that honored Leo’s hispanic heritage and cultural traditions.

K+L got ready at the Four Seasons Baltimore with their first look on a private part of the promenade before heading up to Mt. Washington Mill Dye House for their ceremony and reception… here are some early favorites to enjoy!

7 UNFORGETTABLE DETAILS AND MOMENTS FROM K+L’S DYE HOUSE WEDDING:

  1. Leo wore a custom Christopher Schafer suit and had his ring inscribed with “Love of My Life” which eludes to Kristen often saying to Leo "love of my life, father of my cat"… :)

  2. Kristen wore 2 gorgeous dresses; the first being this Hayley Paige Fleur de Lis floral embroidered ballgown with a deep sweetheart neckline and my favorite detail being the open keyhole back. The second was the modern, chic and minimalist Giovanna gown by Sarah Seven. Both looked like they were made for her!!

  3. They celebrated Leo’s family’s hispanic heritage with numerous thoughtful details and elements — their wedding ceremony was bilingual as was their DJ, so that every guest and family member felt welcomed. They also had agua fresca ready for guests at the courtyard ceremony!

  4. La Hora Loca began about an hour before the end of the reception and it was one of the most energetic, fun and celebratory ways to party together — neon glow sticks, streamers, loud music and inflatable decor came out to add to the festive feel!

Congratulations again, lovebirds! There were so many incredible moments, it’s so hard to narrow down a favorite; your wedding day was unforgettable in every way and we were so grateful to be a part of it! Cheers to lots of love, tasty meals and the perfect blend of quiet, relaxed moments and loud, fun family celebrations together in the future!

ashley + james | a joyful spring wyndridge wedding

It poured during Ashley and James’ outdoor wedding ceremony at Wyndridge Farm but they were full of smiles the whole time, the memories are incredible and at the end of the day, they’re married!!

As per usual recently, the skies couldn’t decide if they would sprinkle, pour or stay dry, so Ashley and James have photos in all kinds of weather (example below… it looks like snow, but is 100% rain!) But most of all, they were surrounded by love, happiness and all the right kind of go with the flow energy…

I couldn’t be happier for you both!! Here’s to rainy days being your biggest good luck charm… enjoy these early favorites from the start of your best adventure yet!

5 UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS AND DETAILS FROM A+J’S MAY WEDDING AT WYNDRIDGE FARM IN PA

  1. The custom lace Converse Ashley wore; her flower girl and bridesmaids all wore Converse sneakers too!

  2. Ashley’s bridal style: her veil was full of the tiniest sparkles and glistened the entire time and her pearl jewelry was from her mom.

  3. Both the main wedding cake and the groom’s cake were made by the groom’s mom, Melena; the groom’s cake had A+J’s 2 dogs featured prominently on either side of the cake, taking a bite out of the cake! SO cute.

  4. I know I’ve said it here more than once, but I can’t get over the way Ashley + James embraced the rain and chose to continue with their outdoor wedding ceremony at the Wyndridge chapel. We got through 90% of the ceremony before it really started coming down, and it makes the photos and memories so much fun to look back on!

  5. The dance floor was packed with so much energy and great dance moves - it was so much fun to get creative with the DJ’s lighting and the twinkle lights at the venue!

Congratulations again, Ashley + James! Your day was full of so much love, laughter and gorgeous spring florals; wishing you both the best for a lifetime of fun days together!!

Naomi

molly + joe | a classic kent island resort wedding in may

It started raining the day before Molly + Joe’s wedding, and it just kept raining for 48 hrs straight… which meant a few more tented walls than expected and a first look under cover thanks to the upper balcony at the Kent Island Resort. Despite this, their faces and embraces say it all.

Molly and Joe both have families that are so incredibly kind, warm, loving and thoughtful. It’s no surprise that their wedding day was full of so much classic beauty and genuine joy! Enjoy these early favorites from their wedding at the Kent Island Resort; this historic manor house provided a perfect backdrop of both countryside charm and understated elegance.

wedding couple first look at kent island resort on a rainy day in may

7 UNFORGETTABLE DETAILS AND MOMENTS FROM M+J’S KENT ISLAND RESORT WEDDING:

  1. The invitation design with the sweetest details: a blue heron on the reply card and a map of the Chesapeake Bay as the inner envelope liner

  2. Molly’s family dogs joined at the waterfront home where she got ready in the morning — they were gentle giants that added such a calming presence and lots of smiles!

  3. Their portraits in the rain are some of my favorites of all-time. Why? They were so willing to embrace it and do whatever it takes to get great photos; we also had lots of time to be creative inside the beautiful front room of the manor!

  4. Molly’s brother was her man of honor and Joe’s dad was his best man… the actual sweetest. Who says your ‘wedding party’ has to be traditional?

  5. The seating chart was an enormous display of oysters and names that said “hope you have a great shucking time” ;)

  6. The dance floor was packed all night… Polaris put on quite the performance!

  7. The tent from Eastern Shore Tents was unlike any I’ve seen before… it had clear sides and the most beautiful wood structure above, draped with sheer white fabric and perfectly modern yet romantic chandeliers adding sparkle to the space as it got dark.

Congratulations again, newlyweds!! I’m so excited to see what lies ahead for you both as doctors and overall wonderful humans! So grateful and honored to continue to be a part of your family’s celebrations…

allyson + matt | an elegant spring wedding at the assembly room

It was a beautiful spring day for Allyson and Matt’s wedding at the Assembly Room in downtown Baltimore — the sun was shining, there was a slight breeze along the water for their first look and most importantly, all of their families and friends were overflowing with love and joy as they watched these cuties officially become husband and wife!

6 UNIQUE DETAILS FROM A+M’S ELEGANT, INDUSTRIAL WEDDING AT THE ASSEMBLY ROOM

  1. Allyson’s classic plunging v-neck ballgown had pockets (!!!) and the most gorgeous train and lace back detail

  2. Matt’s reaction to seeing Allyson for the first time… he just kept saying “wow…” it was the actual sweetest.

  3. During their ceremony, Allyson’s bridesmaid read a poem that was personalized for them and so incredibly cute!

  4. They used Allyson’s parents wedding cake topper for theirs - it was perfect.

  5. The most dramatic and fun light pouring through the Assembly Room skylights during their portraits.

  6. Allyson’s aunts and uncles had a blast on the dance floor and you can easily tell who came to party!

The view from and vibe in their getting ready suites at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront was amazing; so calm, confident and ready to do this wedding thing! Allyson’s dress and Matt’s tux were so classically elegant — I could not get enough of those dress pockets!!!

When it came time for their first look on the promenade, the sun was shining, their families were cheering them on and Allyson’s veil couldn’t wait for it’s time to shine. Having an intimate wedding party of 2 on each side meant we could get creative with portraits by the water and stay ahead of schedule all day long… not to mention, having fun while taking them!

Congratulations, Allyson & Matt!! We were incredibly honored to be a part of your wedding memories and hope you continue dancing in the streets for decades to come! Thanks for being so willing to trust us and go along with all our crazy ideas, you two (and your families) are truly the best!

rachel + jordan | a classic, fun + luxe spring wedding at the belvedere in baltimore

The amount of joy and happy tears present at Rachel + Jordan’s wedding at the Belvedere on a late spring Sunday in March was truly immeasurable! Their love for each other, their families, friends and Baltimore, the city they call home — it was all such an incredible celebration full of energy, romance, a scented ceremony (!) and the most stunning chuppah I have ever seen!!

Enjoy these early favorites from Rachel + Jordan’s classic spring Belvedere wedding in Baltimore…

THE 9 MEMORABLE MOMENTS AND DETAILS FROM R+J’S BELVEDERE WEDDING THAT WILL MAKE YOU SMILE:

  1. Rachel wore pearl earrings from one grandmother and a vintage diamond ring from her other grandmother. Jordan wore sloth astronaut cufflinks!! Read their engagement blog post for more on the meaning of the sloth astronaut! ;)

  2. Their first look on the promenade was full of overwhelming emotion, bringing tears to Jordan’s eyes and the need to pause while taking it all in, especially how gorgeous Rachel looked!

  3. Rachel designed the ceremony space and guest entry sequence to smell of their favorite Jo Malone scent. It was a first for me; I’m convinced it’s one of the best ways to personalize a wedding, since scent is a huge memory driver!!!

  4. The chuppah was one of the most beautifully lush I’ve ever seen, constructed with gold frames by Victoria Clausen and flowered by Steelcut with shades of maroon, burgundy, magenta, toffee, light pink and peach in varieties of roses, peonies, orchids, anemones, hanging amaranthus and more. The sweetheart table was also overflowing with these flowers in an asymmetrical arrangement. There were also pomegranates in the table floral arrangements…!

    (continued below…)

5. The speeches made by both sets of parents and Congressman and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, brought tears to my eyes. So much respect and pride shared for these lovebirds; it was simply an honor to be in their presence.

6. The black and white checkered dance floor brightened up the space and added the perfect punch of contrast to draw your attention to the twirls and epic moves of their first dance.

7. R+J and all of their guests wore sneakers (some were so creatively decorated!) to honor Jordan’s late brother, a talented basketball player and coach.

8. Rachel made an entrance on the cream cruiser bike to announce dessert, in her second party dress full of sparkle, fringe and celebration!

9. We were able to take portraits in Mt. Vernon under the blooming magnolia trees near the Washington Monument and it felt like we were in Europe among all the cobblestones and beautiful architecture surrounding us!

We also made sure to explore the venue fully since there are so many iconic and unique backdrops for photos at the Belvedere — we took portraits in the Owl Bar, the romantic nook on the 12th floor, the window above the marquee and the 13th Floor during the after party.

MAZEL TOV, Rachel + Jordan!!! It was an absolute honor to document these memories for you! Your wedding was so much fun, photogenic, elegant and meaningful - like you two and your incredible relationship. I hope you continue laughing, dancing, eating, holding hands and travelling together for decades to come… you are such an inspiration to us all!

Naomi

heather + geof | a flower-filled, romantic + intimate spring wedding at citron

On an unseasonably warm and (eventually) bright and sunny March Saturday, Heather & Geof were married at Citron, among their closest friends and family and it was a day filled with warmth in so many ways!

The day had a relaxing feel from the start at the Sagamore Pendry in Fells Point with Remy, their sweet little pup there for lots of sweet snuggles and smiles. When added to Heather’s impeccable sense of style, the way Geof looks at her, the TWO confetti tosses, glowing sun during the lakeside ceremony and warm wishes and memories shared during multiple toasts throughout their 6 course dinner, their wedding was absolutely incredible!

Enjoy these early highlights from Heather + Geof’s spring wedding at Citron, overlooking Quarry Lake…

3 HIGHLIGHTS FROM HEATHER + GEOF’S
PRE-CEREMONY MOMENTS AT THE PENDRY:

  1. It was one of the first things I noticed when I arrived — the calm excitement that Heather exuded while getting ready. With an effortless chic, and timeless sense of style; the feather-trimmed crepe strapless midi dress she chose from 16 Arlington looked like it was made just for her. I loved the custom light blue Jimmy Choo heels with the date inscribed on the bottom; it was a fun and unexpected touch since Geof’s bright navy Indochino suit had the date embroidered inside as well.

  2. Her bouquet from Local Color Flowers was made up of shades of cream, blush, light pink and the most perfect pale spring yellow among anemones, ranunculus, butterfly ranunculus and eucalyptus (and more local flowers that I never remember the names of)!

  3. Their private first look on the balcony overlooking the heart of Fells Point followed by portraits in the modern courtyard at the Pendry and a confetti toss during group photos on the water… it was perfection in so many ways!!

4 UNFORGETTABLE ELEMENTS FROM H+G’S INTIMATE WEDDING CEREMONY + DINNER RECEPTION AT CITRON:

  1. The bright ceremony on the water - not a cloud in the sky! A gentle breeze came through as Heather met Geof at the altar and her veil had a mind of it’s own, adding lighthearted laughter to the start of the moving ceremony that ended in a joyful bubble exit!

  2. We took golden hour photos out on the deck as the sun went down and the minimal yet modern copper arch wrapped in spring blooms and flowering branches, formed such a gorgeous backdrop for their couple’s portraits. I couldn’t get enough!!

  3. Guests were seated at two long rectangular tables with floral arrangements of varying heights, wooden crossback chairs, modern menus, gold flatware, votives and a beautifully subtle gold and ivory patterned linen.

  4. Two Rivers Chamber Music played instrumental music throughout dinner and ended the night with their favorite song, Everlong as Heather + Geof ran through a tunnel of confetti tossed by their guests; it was energetic, fun and such a perfect send-off for these adorable newlyweds!

Cheers to you, Heather and Geof! You deserve all the happiness and joy that this season of life will bring; your wedding was incredibly warm (literally, 70 degrees in March!), bright, loving and full of so many memorable moments.

I wish you all the best and can’t wait to see your future adventures together (with Remy alongside, of course)!

Naomi

caroline + josh | an intimate winter wedding at woodberry kitchen

Caroline + Josh chose to get married on an incredible wedding date — one that actually won’t happen again for 200 years! On a rainy and overcast Twosday (and it was actually a Tuesday!) February 22, 2022, these two sweethearts shared an intimate, memorable and cozy dinner wedding celebration with their closest family and friends at Woodberry Kitchen in the Clipper Mill neighborhood of Baltimore.

The rain stopped just in time for us to take portraits in and around the restaurant, one of my favorite spots in Baltimore full of all the best historic industrial vibes. Smiles never left their faces (and mine!); I hope you enjoy reliving their once-in-a-lifetime love story as much as I enjoyed being a part of it…

newlywed couple shares a moment at their february woodberry kitchen wedding

Woodberry Kitchen is such a unique and inviting space for intimate, micro weddings in Baltimore. Here are 5 reasons why this couple and their wedding stole my heart:

  1. Caroline’s engagement ring was Josh’s grandmother’s and the bracelet she wore was her great-grandmother’s.

  2. Caroline and Josh were beaming as they walked down the aisle together into their intimate ceremony. I love seeing how couples make traditions their own - Josh’s aunt even officiated and married them!

  3. Guests were seated at 2 12’ long tables that allowed an intimate, family style feel to the dinner celebration with 3 course menus, checkered plaid napkins and tealights at each placesetting, to add to the cozy feel.

  4. Caroline wore a fur wrap and Josh wore a paisley mustard yellow vest! Her bouquet included maroon calla lillies, dark red king protea, white and red roses and seeded eucalyptus.

  5. The string lights and vaulted ceiling with full-length windows letting in as much natural light as possible and worn wood floorboards underfoot, added a romantic feel as appetizers were passed and guests mingled happily into the night.

  6. Caroline and Josh share such a gentle, caring relationship full of sweet gestures and goofy laughs; while they now live in the heart of Fells Point, proposing at the Pagoda in Patterson Park is how it all started for these cuties!

Congratulations again, Caroline + Josh!! Your winter wedding at Woodberry Kitchen was such a joy and honor to be a part of; I hope you both continue to enjoy cozy, warm and delicious meals together with your favorite people for decades to come!

Naomi

6 important questions to ask a wedding photographer

There are tons of lists you can find in wedding magazines and blogs about all the questions you should ask potential wedding photographers, but I wanted to clear the air and distill it down to the most important ones (…at least in my mind)!

interracial couple enjoys a private first look in front of a brick wall at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House
bride and groom listen to the bride's father giving a toast under a sailcloth tent and seated at elegant wood tables

Here are some of the questions I often hear from couples and some that I don’t always hear but feel are very important to ask to make sure you’re extremely comfortable with the person you choose to document your most important and best day (yet)!

ps: you might want to save / bookmark this post to refer back to and share it with your newly engaged (or soon-to-be-engaged) friends!

What to Ask A Wedding Photographer at Your Initial Consult/Meeting

wedding party walking in front of the Winslow in pale pink dresses and black suits
wedding party walks through the cobblestone streets in Mt. Vernon, Baltimore, MD

1. To see a full gallery (or 2-3!) …bonus if one of them took place at your venue!

However, be careful… don’t get caught up in thinking “if my photographer hasn’t worked there yet, do I need to find one that has?” Short answer: NO.
Pro Tip: Our creativity is heightened when we visit and photograph at a venue for the first time. Trust me! ;)

Also please keep in mind that your wedding will likely look very different than any gallery we share — as it should! The colors, vibe and/or season may be similar to yours, but in the end, what you’re really looking for is to make sure that the photographer has the ability to document a variety of moments throughout the day with ease: both big and small moments, candids and formals; that they have a mastery of shooting in a variety of conditions: low-lit churches, rain/wind, dark ceremony / reception spaces, etc. and that there is a clear and compelling and real (aka: not forced or overly posed or stiff) story of the day being told through the photographs…

bride and groom share an intimate moment on the red carpet at the iconic staircase of the Sagamore Pendry in Fells Point, Baltimore, MD

2. Will they go on a final walkthrough or visit your venue prior to the wedding if they’ve never been before?

I absolutely will and even if I have photographed there before, I believe it’s extremely valuable and if I can align my schedule to work with your visit, count me in!

bride laughs as groom sees her for the first time in her wedding dress in front of old ivy stone building at Dulany's Overlook in Frederick, MD
couple enjoys first dance at Mt. Washington Mill Dye House as guests and parents watch in a circle

3. How do they direct family formals and make sure not to miss anyone?!

COMMUNICATION! I will share a standard family photo list with you in advance and we will go over it to make sure we have a good understanding of the VIPs in your fam! I’ll also bring it with me on the day of the wedding. Another reason why having 2 photographers is hugely helpful: usually the second photographer will be helping to wrangle people, get them up and ready on deck and keep track of any groupings we need to go back to.

bride walks down elegant staircase in historic farmhouse at Tusculum Farm

4. Do they have trusted vendors they can share with you?

Heck yes! Just ask and you will receive the most comprehensive list (once you’re officially booked with Urban Row)! I only share the names of people I have worked with on a wedding day or during an editorial shoot so that I am confident you will also love their communication style, talent and personality!

jewish couple signs marriage ketubah at Silo Point in Baltimore, MD

5. What makes them different than other photographers?

You can read my reasons here (see the first 3 questions!). ;)

newlywed couple enjoys golden hour sunset portraits on side of pond at stone ridge hollow

6. How do they ensure your images are backed up before they deliver them in case technology fails?

For me, both of my cameras shoot and record the same images to two cards so I always have at least one card to work with if the other becomes corrupt. I also never delete / format the cards until after I’ve delivered your wedding so if for some reason my computer and external hard drive both fail, I will have the cards to go back to. I also back everything up to an offsite third party backup system just as another method to ensure everything is safe!!

view of couple dancing from above within a circle of guests at their wedding reception at The Winslow in Baltimore, MD

I know for most couples, this is your first time planning a wedding and it’s so hard to know what to ask all of your vendors… I love it when couples ask me questions! I’m an open book and happy to share if you’re curious or concerned — just ask away!

rose + ryan | a rustic industrial black and white wedding at main street ballroom

On a perfectly cozy November evening in Ellicott City, MD, Rose and Ryan were married at Main Street Ballroom and looked pretty freakin’ incredible while doing it… actually, they made it look easy because they’re just that cute together.

I knew as soon as we were together at their engagement photos, that these two love to laugh, but what I didn’t know was how much they love to cry happy tears together too! Their November wedding was classic with a modern twist, fun, sentimental, heartfelt, unique and full of so much love… I don’t know how your celebration could have been any better!

Enjoy these favorites from their day… you may need a tissue nearby! ;)

10 MEMORABLE MOMENTS AND DETAILS FROM THIS BLACK AND WHITE, INDUSTRIAL CHIC MAIN STREET BALLROOM WEDDING:

  1. Rose’s oversized white and greenery-filled bridal bouquet with a king protea as the focal point and palms framing the outer edges; so much texture!

  2. The enormous and lush hanging floral installation over the dance floor and the white rose petals lining the aisle created such a romantic feel

  3. The pearls that cascaded down Rose’s cathedral veil

  4. Ryan’s Spongebob Squarepants socks and all of the grooms wearing different cartoon socks with Ryan in a white jacket with a black lapel

  5. Rose’s emotional first look with her dad before seeing Ryan

  6. Seeing each other for their first look as their wedding party watched from behind the window… TEARS x a million!!!

  7. Their signature drink, “dos hermanos” named for their 2 #urbanrowpup (s); a spicy margarita

  8. The seating display and welcome signage in black acrylic: crisp, clean and modern

  9. The elegant and luxe black and white table decor combined with the rustic nature of the driftwood on the long wood head table.

  10. Skeeball, Taco Bell and a donut bar to end the night!

There are no words to describe their emotional first look… happy tears were flowing from every single corner and I’ve never seen two people so genuinely overwhelmed with joy, emotion, love and excitement to see each other and get married! It was absolutely incredible and don’t worry, there were also more tears while walking down the aisle!

I loved how Rose’s bridesmaids hid her inside until we were ready for her to see Ryan! Group hug or hiding the bride? ;)

Rose and Ryan, your wedding is one that I will never forget; you’re the perfect team and compliment each other so well. You have an incredible sense of style (…obsessed with both your wedding dress and silk jumpsuit!) while also keeping it real and fun (cartoon socks for the win!)...

I miss being around you and seeing the effortless way you make each other smile - it’s the sweetest! Give the pups a hug for me and don’t ever stop making each other laugh; the way it comes so easily is your superpower!

Naomi
