kelly + katherine | a spring wedding with delicate, lush blooms at the dye house

Kelly + Katherine’s wedding day was a love story that gave early spring vibes in every sense and overflowed with love, the biggest smiles and genuine, natural joy all day long…

…cozy, sweet, relaxed, sentimental and heartwarming at a venue full of exposed brick and stone with hanging bistro lights, a soft white floral ceremony arbor of hydrangeas, sweet peas, ranunculus, roses; reception tables set with sage green glass goblets, ribbed smoke gray glass votive candles and taper candles in a mauve/desert rose tone…

It was a bright and beautifully sunny day in mid-March with no clouds in the sky. Kelly and Katherine got ready together in the same hotel suite with their VIPs but chose to get dressed in separate rooms and share an intimate first look before heading out for portraits on the water.

Katherine’s dress had lace botanical appliques with a soft pink undertone while Kelly’s dress was a simple and modern satin dress in a halter top style – both dresses had pockets and both brides wore similar [unplanned!] hairstyles in a clean, low bun. Their letterpress invitation suite had soft sage green/gray text with an ivory envelope lined in a botanical print.

During their intimate indoor ceremony, both brides exchanged solid gold wedding bands against a backdrop of a minimalist metal arbor covered in all-white blooms, including delicate trailing pear blossoms. Mother Bradley has known Kelly’s family for 20+ years, marrying her brother before this; the sweetest moments during the ceremony included some of their guests standing up and sharing prayers as a lovely surprise to the couple.

Espresso martinis were passed during cocktail hour and muted earth toned garden spring linens covered the high-top courtyard tables. The vibe was relaxed, sophisticated and softly lit by a glow of candles and hanging bistro lights above…

Kelly + Katherine, there are not enough words to describe how much I enjoyed and am so grateful to have had the honor of documenting all the love and support that surrounded you on your wedding day — it was absolutely magical! You both are the kindest souls that deserve all the happiness in the world and make every room better by simply being in it.

I can’t wait to celebrate you every March 16 for years to come!!!

Naomi

keri + joey | a sophisticated and stylish fall wedding at the winslow baltimore

From the hardcover linen-wrapped vow books and the crisp black and white invitation suite with an illustrated map of the Baltimore skyline to Keri’s multiple bridal looks and the champagne tower at the end of the night, Keri and Joey’s wedding at the Winslow was the definition of a chic and fun industrial wedding in October.

Not even joking a little, this Baltimore wedding felt like it belonged on the cover of Vogue.

This down-to-earth couple is so stylish, warm, and genuine, it made them such a joy to photograph (can’t get enough? here is their esesh in Fed Hill). The best part? Their families are the exact same way! And their dog Tucker made multiple appearances throughout the day (one of them was the cutest surprise from Joey to Keri)!

highlights from Keri & Joey’s baltimore Wedding at the pendry and winslow in october:

  1. Both Keri and Joey got ready at a favorite Baltimore wedding venue and boutique hotel: the Sagamore Pendry in Fells Point. This historic building with a modern vibe has so many iconic spots to grab candid photos that look like they were taken right out of a high-end bridal magazine.

2. Keri wore a strapless silk gown with a sexy slit and Jimmy Choo white heels. With her gorgeous and full dark brown hair cascading down in soft waves, she was modern bridal perfection. She paired the simple yet elegant look with gold diamond jewelry and a soft, romantic makeup palette.

3. Her bridesmaids wore neutral satin dresses in a taupe color and carried bouquets in muted fall tones, giving the day a mid-century glam feel.

4. One of the most sought-after spots for wedding photos in Baltimore is the stairwell of the Pendry, and that’s where Keri + Joey had their first look. Pairing the red carpet, black and white tile, and gold elements of the stairwell with Keri + Joey’s classic looks, these portraits looked like an old Hollywood love story.

5. During their first look, they also shared private vows with each other. Written in beautiful hardcover linen-wrapped vow books, I would be lying if I said I didn’t shed a tear behind the camera!

6. Another special moment came when Keri presented Joey with a surprise gift – customized gold cufflinks. Not just any cufflinks, these ones had a special message from Keri and one from Joey’s late mother on the other (written in her handwriting!). It was a special way for Joey’s late mom to be with them throughout the day.

7. Before heading to the Winslow, we went up to the Pendry’s pool deck for more portraits. The infinity edge pool is like nothing else in the City of Baltimore and the reflection where the pool meets the sky is out of this world. The pool isn’t always uncovered this late in the season, so I was ecstatic to discover it like this!

8. Their ceremony was a full Catholic mass at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Baltimore’s Bolton Hill neighborhood. This historic church has such a presence; the stately and all-white sculptural feel complimented Keri + Joey’s wedding vibe perfectly.

9. After the ceremony ended, we took the cutest white trolley over to the reception space, The Winslow. Once there, Joey had arranged for their beloved #urbanrowpup, Tucker, to meet them there and surprise Keri during cocktail hour. His mama was so happy! Tucker said hello to some guests and stayed for a bit before returning home, but not before he paid everyone’s tab — on the bar, there was black acrylic signage that read “Tab is on Tucker!”

10. At the Winslow, there is a nook near the bar that everyone utilizes differently, and I loved how Keri + Joey set up their black acrylic seating chart there surrounded by candles and flowers. It looked like the space was made specifically for their decor, so full and lush.

11. The placesettings for dinner were had gold cutlery and white china with a gold edge. Each person received a customized menu at their seat that matched the invitation suite.

12. Keri + Joey sat at a sweetheart table with a black velvet high-back bench. Paired with a large floral installation full of lush and moody flowers behind the bench, it was regal and chic – exactly the vibe of the entire wedding!

13. The reception itself was also full of fun details, like a champagne tower and Keri + Joey’s friends lifting them up on chairs to the classic wedding song “Shout!” played by the Bachelor Boys Band.

Keri + Joey, working with you was a dream! You are such a strong, amazing, and polished couple; your Baltimore wedding fit your vibe perfectly. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for you and Tucker. Thank you for the honor of capturing this gorgeous day!

Naomi

kelly + colin | a modern wedding with old-world charm at the heron room + cosima

Held at one of my favorite Baltimore wedding venues, the Heron Room at Mill No. 1, Kelly and Colin’s October wedding felt romantic and modern yet industrial and old-world all at the same time…

I can’t lie. I was nervous when the day first started. The weather was gloomy and rainy – nothing at all like Kelly + Colin’s vibrant and warm personalities, not to mention, the bright and happy day they deserved. Luckily, a few minutes after I arrived to the venue, the sun came out, the clouds gave way to a bright blue sky, and everything dried up right as we were starting to capture their portraits.

Kelly + Colin’s love is honest, down-to-earth, and relaxed. After being together for six years, they’ve seen each other through so much and complemented each other so well! There was a comfortableness about them that can only come from years of love and happiness. It’s clear to anyone who knows them that they are truly soulmates.

12 Memorable Details and Elements from Kelly + Colin’s Heron Room + Cosima Wedding:

  1. Part of an old mill complex, the exposed brick and stone walls, the cobblestone courtyard, and the proximity to Jones Falls give it a lush, old-world, European feel that can’t be found anywhere else in the city. Surrounded by soft greenery and nature yet also industrial and historic, this venue honestly has it all and I love that couples and their guests can easily take advantage of all of it here!

  2. Kelly and her bridesmaids got ready in the loft apartment at Mill No. 1. The lobby was full of natural light as her bridesmaids saw her for the first time — with the huge black and white letters of Mount Vernon Mill signage behind them, it was such a perfect space for these moments!

  3. After that, it was time for another first look, this time with her dad. Cue the tears! This was the most emotional father-daughter first look I’ve ever had the honor of witnessing. I hope my husband gets this emotional on our daughter’s wedding day! It was just the sweetest.

  4. Kelly + Colin had their first look outside on the cobblestoned courtyard adjacent to the Jones Falls. They shared personal vows with each other, taking a minute to just be present before the craziness of the day started. I thought her reveal with her dad was emotional but boy, this one had me crying behind my camera…

5. Kelly was exquisite — she honestly looked like a real-life Barbie. Her gorgeous blonde hair hung down in perfect waves around her shoulders, which really complimented the tiny straps, low back, and scoop neckline of her gown. The simple, modern embroidery of large flowers on her Jenny Yoo gown from Garnish, completely took my breath away when she put it on. It looked like it was 100% made for her!

6. Colin also looked amazing, of course! He wore a black suit with a pocket floral and a gold tie clip that was a surprise from Kelly… but the best part of his outfit was the big smile that spread across his face as soon as he saw his bride.

7. The entire bridal party was also dressed in black, which made the bright autumn flowers of their flower arrangements really pop.

8. Their outdoor ceremony took place in the cobblestoned courtyard and was officiated by a good friend. After they were officially pronounced husband and wife, they recessed down the aisle through a white rose petal toss. What a romantic and joyful way to end this sweet ceremony!

9. After cocktail hour on the patio, the party moved to Cosima for dinner + toasts. The family-style, Mediterranean meal felt intimate, relaxed, and comfortable – just like the love story we were celebrating!

10. My favorite detail of the reception was the cocktail napkins with their pets faces on them. What a great way to pay homage to the #urbanrowpup that connected them in the first place, Colin’s dog, Goldie!

11. Before dinner and speeches, we quickly went outside to grab portraits during golden hour. Mill No. 1 has a really amazing bridge that connects Cosima with another old mill building. We got some fun photos of K+C on the bridge looking back at their beautiful wedding venue. With the old brick building, rusted metal shutters and wild greenery of Jones Falls, it really felt like something out of a fairytale.

12. I loved working with fellow mom entrepreneur Olivia Hill for videography, and DJ Chris Legend of Gold Event Group, who kept the party going nonstop all night with a non-traditional all-white speaker and booth.

Kelly + Colin, I hope everyone finds a love as comfortable and supportive as the one you two share!

The way you care for each other is such an inspiration to those around you and it’s so obvious that everyone was so excited for the two of you to tie the knot. Thank you for letting me be a small part of your big day — I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you both! Don’t be strangers, I miss your energy already!!

allie + hunter | a joyful waterfront wedding at frederick douglass

When you think of a picturesque Baltimore wedding, can you imagine anything more perfect than a pier-side ceremony with sailboats filling the harbor and an epic golden hour sunset?

That’s exactly the vibe Allie + Hunter achieved when they got married in October in Baltimore at the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park and Museum. Full of water views, sailboats, and a waterfront cocktail hour on the patio, it was the most picturesque backdrop for guests to experience…

With temperatures in the high 60s, no clouds in the sky, and a light breeze, guests watched Allie + Hunter marry at the end of one of the most photogenic piers in Baltimore in front of a circular wooden arbor, adorned with lush greenery and ivory roses, anemones and peach colored blooms. The backdrop of sailboats and the Domino Sugar plant combined with constant laughter and candid joy — so many opportunities to document photos of family and friends with a photojournalistic feel! It was an incredible day for these two super sweet soulmates!

10 Memorable Moments and details from Allie + Hunter’s fall Wedding at frederick douglass maritime park:

  1. Allie + Hunter both got ready at one of my favorite modern Baltimore hotels: the Canopy Hilton at Harbor Point. This contemporary, clean, and crisp hotel is full of natural light in every room, uninterrupted floor-to-ceiling waterfront views and a design that celebrates mid-century modern finishes in an elegant and luxe way.

  2. Speaking of getting ready, Allie and her 7 bridesmaids incorporated confetti and personalized Chambongs, while they were getting ready. They had zero fun with these, lol. ;)

  3. Favors for their guests were custom-made wooden coasters that featured a picture of their cute pup, Bruce, and their names. The fact that they were made by Hunter’s brother made them even more special!

  4. One of my favorite moments of the day was Allie’s first look with her dad. Allie had told me that her dad gets very emotional and man! The emotions were sure flowing during this first look! Both Allie and her dad were crying happy tears when they saw each other.

5. Allie + Hunter’s first look went a little … differently. This fun-loving couple have an inside joke involving Guy Fieri so it only made sense that the chef made an appearance – sort of. During their first look, when Hunter turned around, he was shocked not to see his beautiful bride but, instead, a cardboard cutout of Guy! The laughter helped calm Hunter’s nerves and he was all smiles when Allie jumped out from behind Guy for their real first look.

6. The flowers, by Wanton Poppies, featured beautiful, textured fall florals complete with roses, dahlias, and anemones: beautiful, organic, and natural.

7. Allie’s seven bridesmaids all wore hunter green (get it? Hunter? ha!) floor-length gowns in various styles and the groomsmen wore navy blue suits. The colors really popped against the cobblestone streets and historic buildings in Fells Point.

8. Taking the time to enjoy a first look at your reception space is a new trend and I love when couples take advantage of it! Allie + Hunter took a moment away from the excitement of cocktail hour to peek at the reception they worked so hard to design, before it was full of happy guests. They got to practice their first dance and just enjoy a moment to themselves before getting back to their excited guests.

9. #urbanrowpup Bruce made another appearance once we got to the reception. The couple hired Lynny C to paint a photo of him on the signage for their bar. Their signature drinks also tied in their beloved pup with names like “Goodest Boy” and “Wonky Paw”. I just love when couples include their furry family members in their big day!

10. The cherry on the top of their perfect reception was when we snuck out to grab photos during golden hour. This sunset was unlike anything I’ve ever seen in Baltimore before! We timed it perfectly and got some really vibrant and radiant sunset photos right along the water.

Another reason having a wedding at Frederick Douglass Maritime Park is one of my favorite spots? The sunset views here are better than anywhere else in Baltimore. Yup, I said it!

10. What’s a Baltimore wedding without Berger cookies? Instead of a cake, Allie + Hunter cut a Berger cookie cheesecake while their guests enjoyed Berger cookie cheesecake bites, Smith Island Cake bites, and vegan key lime tarts! Zeffert & Gold crushed it with dinner, desserts AND drinks. DELICIOUS.

This Baltimore wedding was overflowing with love and laughter – even “Guy Fieri” got on the dance floor to party the night away in celebration of Allie + Hunter!

Allie + Hunter: you were an absolute dream to work with. Your love and laughter is contagious and it was obvious throughout your special day that every single guest was so excited and happy for you to start your lives together. I just know that you (and Bruce!) will be very happy for years to come. Thank you for allowing me to capture your wedding at Frederick Douglass Maritime Park - I can’t wait to see where all of your adventures take you!

sasha + greg | a classic summer wedding with vibrant florals at the winslow

Sasha + Greg got married at one of my favorite venues: The Winslow, in downtown Baltimore. Even though the weather was crazy – constant clouds, sun, rain, storms, rinse and repeat – this was one of the most beautiful and elegant weddings I’ve had the pleasure of photographing!

Sasha + Greg are so effortlessly in love that it just made the entire day so relaxed and wonderful. From Sasha’s beaded flats and Greg’s custom-made suit to the lush and vibrant floral arrangements paired with the layered gold place settings — it was all absolutely breathtaking. You could easily tell that the Nouvelle Weddings team thought about every detail and left nothing untouched, making this day absolutely perfect for this incredibly sweet couple. I was beyond excited to photograph it!

A vibrant wedding at the Winslow with bright orange and white flowers adorning the cake and escort card display.

11 Memorable Moments and Details from Sasha + Greg’s Wedding at The Winslow (with portraits at The Butterfly Room):

  1. While getting ready at the Four Seasons Baltimore, Sasha’s daughters wore matching blue satin pajamas that popped against the vibrant orange and golden yellow florals.

  2. Greg wore a custom navy blue suit by Christopher Schafer Clothier and looked absolutely flawless. That suit was lined with a fun patterned blue fabric and his name embroidered inside. It was so full of personality — I love how confident custom suits make grooms feel on such an important occasion!

  3. Sasha + Greg kept their wedding party intimate and meaningful with just Sasha’s two teenage daughters and Greg’s teenage son.

  4. Sasha’s day of details were so fun and elegant all at once: she included a cute mini beaded clutch, a satin ivory clutch with a large bow, crystal-embellished Bella Belle Willow flats, sparkling rhinestone jewelry and a custom invitation suite designed by Ruby the Fox.

  5. The paper goods and day of details were so pretty and unique that they deserve their own time in the spotlight! They included white and gold letterpress menus, personalized navy blue cocktail napkins, a geometric navy blue envelope liner and a letterpress invitation with a band made up of a custom watercolor pattern in shades of blue (that also matched the cocktail table linens at the reception!) that were exquisite to pair with vibrant and summery blooms from Victoria Clausen Florals.

6. Originally, we planned for Sasha + Greg to have their first look outside by the water. But you know what they say about best-laid plans… with the weather not cooperating, we were lucky enough to have planned ahead (thanks to the Nouvelle Weddings team!) and opted for an indoor first look at The Butterfly Room. Not having to scramble and make changes on the fly was incredibly helpful. We took portraits inside the front of the venue and outside in their open-air courtyard, appropriately called the Ruins… these were some of my favorite from the day since we had the space all to ourselves and the freedom to get creative!

ps: The Butterfly Room is a new Baltimore wedding venue that features a modern industrial vibe of exposed brick, tons of natural light, a metal steel wall and a chic garage door that created amazing lines and shadows, which the architect in me definitely appreciated! (I’ve photographed at this venue before so be sure to check out this blog post if you’re interested in learning more about it!)

7. After the Butterfly Room, we headed to their ceremony at The Winslow. Held in the trainshed room, the aisles were lined with bright, colorful floral arrangements and gold lanterns. Watching Sasha walk up the aisle to Greg was an incredible moment full of so much love and excitement!

8. The ceremony was officiated by Sasha’s best friend’s husband. They have been friends for over 30 years — having him officiate added such a sweet, personal touch to the day.

9. During golden hour, we snuck out to grab some candid portraits on the roof of The Winslow. With the Baltimore skyline as their backdrop and the most perfect golden rays shining on them after the ceremony was done, they were so relaxed and looked incredible in these moments!

10. After sunset on the roof, it was time for dinner… one of my favorite details of Sasha + Greg’s reception was the tablescape and place settings. They incorporated gold chargers topped with white and gold plates that had elegant line work and a menu card tying it all together with a watercolor belly band (that matched the invitation suite and cocktail linens if you remember!). Between the detailed place settings, the lush floral arrangements, the gold geometric chairs and the royal blue tablecloths, the whole reception vibe was so high-end and aesthetically pleasing. LynnAaron and Kara of Nouvelle blew us all away!

11. Then the reception dance party started! The energy on the dance floor started with their first dance and kept going all night once the dance floor props came out: light-up sunglasses and glow sticks only added to the crazy fun candids that occurred as Mixing Maryland kept the dance floor full all night!

Sasha + Greg, your wedding was incredible, just as the two of you are! You complement each other perfectly, and I am so happy that you found each other. Thank you for the opportunity to document your wedding day. I wish you nothing but the best and an exciting future together full of adventures!

Naomi

ashley + jake | a joyful garden party wedding at the mt. washington mill dye house

If I could have one wish, it would be that everyone gets to experience a love like Ashley + Jake’s: comfortable, cozy, cute and confident.

These two lovebirds have been together for 10 years, ever since they met as college freshmen at Emory University. Their wedding was so full of love and happiness — the comfortable kind that comes with a decade-long relationship. The videographer and I joked about how easy the day felt, and I honestly think it’s because Ashley + Jake’s ease around each other put everyone else at ease, too.

A group of bridesmaids and groomsmen standing in front of a brick building.

There were so many fun, unexpected moments at this early summer wedding. From the special decor elements that Ashley made to the greenery and industrial garden party vibe throughout the venue, I loved every minute of documenting A+J’s June wedding at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House!

A bride and groom kiss in front of a petite wedding cake topped with dried orange slices at their Mt. Washington Mill Dye House wedding.

17 Memorable Moments and Details from Ashley + Jake’s Dye House Wedding:

  1. Ashley + Jake got married at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House, a venue I’ve photographed at many times before! In true Dye House fashion, this couple made it their own. The garden-y feel of their floral arrangements against the industrial backdrop of the venue felt so cozy and magical.

  2. Instead of traditional boutonnieres, Jake and his groomsmen had floral pocket squares. They looked incredible against their crisp black suits; I wish more grooms did this! They’re easier than boutonnieres to set into place (no sharp pins to figure out and no flopping or falling apart by the end of the day!), much fuller and lush looking, and elegant.

3. Ashley dried hundreds of orange slices to use as guest placecards, on the cake, and incorporated throughout the table greenery. It was a really unique way to tie the whole wedding together. I took full advantage of these gorgeous dried orange slices when I put together the flat lay photos of her invitation suite.

4. Since Baltimore has played such an important role in Ashley + Jake’s relationship, Ashley ordered a hand-drawn custom map of the city from Etsy. She had the artist highlight all of the locations in the city where important memories happened throughout their decade together.

5. Speaking of Ashley’s creativity and crafting skill, she also embroidered sweatshirts with her bridesmaids names on the sleeves to wear while they got ready. Such a great way for her friends to remember this day when they wear them in the future!

6. When it was time for their first look, the promenade near the Four Seasons was the perfect spot that was perfectly empty and very photogenic! The smiles on their faces say it all…

7. Before their ceremony, we spent some time outside in the courtyard Mt. Washington Mill Dye House taking portraits as a group and just as a couple - there are SO many gorgeous backdrops within reach, it was such an efficient way to spend our time with the wedding party in gorgeous natural light!

8. Their ceremony incorporated the evolution of their relationship from college babies to confident and compassionate adults. It was heartwarming to follow their timeline as friends and families witnessed and celebrated their love! Ashley + Jake wrote their own vows, which they didn’t show each other beforehand and they were so similar!

9. For their guestbook, they had everyone sign a book full of their engagement photos — I wish more couples did this! It’s such a great way to tie your engagement photos into your wedding.

10. Speaking of the guest book, handlettered signage by Lynn Cipollone elevated the look of the signs on the guest book table and for their signature drinks. Her work is so elegant and effortlessly flawless!

11. A+J also tied their decade theme into a shelf displaying one picture from each of their ten years together. Everyone loved looking back on their time together. It was so much fun to compare where they started to where they are now!

12. The enormous head table at the end of the reception space provided such a stunning backdrop with greenery hanging behind them on the textured brick + stucco wall of the Dye House. It was so fun to see them experience a room reveal and get to stroll through the space taking it all in while also enjoying a private practice of their first dance!

13. Ashley and her mom had a mother-daughter dance to Dancing Queen, which was so much fun! You could completely feel the love and joy between the two of them.

14. Watching Jake’s mom dance with Ashley’s mom dance together brought tears to my eyes… not to mention when Jake’s grandparents got up on the dance floor together!

15. Their wedding was catered by Copper Kitchen, who always blows me away! They had two buffet lines with one featuring Greek and Mediterranean food, whereas the other had all types of tacos and a make your own nacho station. It was incredibly delicious!

16. Right at golden hour, we snuck out to grab some portraits on the bridge next to the venue. Between the stone walls, bricks, trees and romantic radiant light, the portraits we got here are simply breathtaking and some of my absolute favorites!!

17. The last personal touch that I really enjoyed was the custom neon sign that said “You’re My Favorite.” As a nod to one of their favorite things to say to one another, it made the perfect backdrop for their unique “photo booth”.

Ashley + Jake, you are an amazing couple!! Your love for each other is so genuine, confident, and inspiring. I loved how much work you put into making your wedding so special and true to the two of you. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a small part of your incredible love story!

noey + peter | a cheerful spring wedding for two loyola greyhounds

Since 1852, Loyola University has been a Baltimore institution. It’s also where these two gorgeous Loyola grads met, so it only made sense that they sealed the deal on the very same campus where they fell in love!

When I first met Noey + Peter for their engagement photos in their Locust Point neighborhood, I knew that capturing their love for each other and the gorgeous city of Baltimore was going to be easy. As soon as you see their faces light up, you can feel the love these two have for each other, the school that introduced them, and the city where they combined their lives!

Noey + Peter got married in mid-April at the historic Loyola University Alumni Memorial Chapel. After the ceremony, we walked across campus to take portraits at all of their favorite spots, before heading over to the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House to dance the night away and celebrate this happy, sweet, and loving couple. It was the perfect Baltimore wedding for the perfect Baltimore couple!

12 Memorable Moments and details from Noey + Peter’s spring Wedding in baltimore:

  1. Spring can be a bit unpredictable when it comes to weather and Noey + Peter’s big day was no different. Luckily, the rain held off whenever we needed to go outside and the threatening clouds in the sky really made the bright blooms and greenery around Baltimore feel soft, yet vibrant. It was the perfect spring metaphor!

  2. Spoiler alert: I always carry clear umbrellas with me so we don’t have to let a little rain stop us from getting great shots in natural light. Great minds think alike because Noey had some, too! Between my stash and hers, we were super prepared for anything. That’s probably why the weather held off for us the way that it did!

3. Noey’s off-the-shoulder gown looked like it was made just for her. It was delicate and sweet yet warm and sparkly in the light – just like the bride!

4. Noey’s bridesmaids wore floor-length gowns in varying shades of soft pastels in pinks, greens, and blues. Their look was tied together with beautiful bouquets in pops of fun color from Violet Floral Designs. The entire wedding party vibe had a soft and romantic look but still modern and spring-like, especially against the soft pink and greens blooming throughout the campus!

5. Watching Noey’s father walk her down the aisle was so emotional! The priest’s introduction shared all of the big milestones Noey + Peter had hit together – meeting as seniors in college, graduating, doing long-distance, moving back to Baltimore, buying a house and becoming pup parents to Sasha - it was such a sweet ode to their journey together.

6. Noey and Peter really wanted to depart the church with a bubble exit so we worked to make it happen! It was a fun and energetic way to move from the ceremony to the reception. (It also made for some really adorable candid photos!)

7. After the ceremony, we took family, wedding party, and couple’s portraits around Loyola’s picturesque campus. Between the blooming cherry blossoms, the magnolia trees, and the tudor-style Humanities building, it was the perfect backdrop for this fun-loving couple that wanted to prioritize and represent their Loyola love story!

8. Their reception was held at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House and one of my favorite details was how Noey + Peter took advantage of the lobby at the venue. For most weddings I’ve seen here, this is unused space, but they designed a fun lounge that looked like something out of a World Market catalog with a gorgeous floral arrangement and gold mirrored hand-written seating chart (by the bride!) across the way. Many guests could be found enjoying this space, relaxing and catching up with old friends.

9. Noey + Peter couldn’t let the night go by without their Corgi pup, Sasha! Their wedding cake featured a little Sasha figurine and if you know me, you know I love a good #urbanrowpup representation! It was the perfect addition to their adorable two-tiered cake.

10. Noey wore white-beaded Badgley Mischka bridal heels but also brought along white Nike Air Max sneakers as part of an inside joke between her and Peter… a testament to the fun and down-to-earth love they share!

11. Towards the end of the reception, Noey changed into a short, sequined white dress — paired with her Nike Air Max sneakers, she was ready to party the night away with her friends and brand-new hubby!

12. Ending the night with a Loyola photo on the dance floor was a must with this energetic and fun group of Baltimore friends… love me a good college flag moment!

Noey + Peter, your energy and love for each other is palpable. The way you look at each other is the type of love every couple dreams of! Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your love story!

It was an absolute honor to document your wedding and hope that you’ll cherish these images for years to come. I wish you nothing but the best and can’t wait to see what the future holds for you!

xo,
Naomi

the loom baltimore | a new modern, intimate industrial mill wedding venue

The Loom is one of Baltimore’s newest event space and a sister venue to the Dye House and Winslow, two of my favorite industrial wedding venues in Baltimore!

exterior view of new industrial baltimore wedding venue the loom
interior view of new white industrial baltimore wedding venue
views of new industrial baltimore wedding venue the loom

One of the major differences you’ll notice at The Loom is how both light and bright the space is while at the same time, having an edgy, modern, industrial aesthetic from the exterior and when you first step inside.

These 3 elements featured in the design are my favorite:

The built-in 360° bar creates quite a focal point to the space and makes for quick and easy service.

The “secret bar” can be used either open as an additional bar or food service station, or closed, becomes a fun backdrop for décor or photo booth.

The gas fireplace in the front courtyard makes for cozy cocktail hours in the cooler months.

ABOUT THE LOOM AT MEADOW MILL:

Dating back to the mid 1800’s, Meadow Mill was one of Hooper’s Woodberry Manufacturing Company located in the Jones Falls Valley. The mill was first intended for the manufacturing of twines and cotton duck (a heavy canvas used primarily for ship sails). After a long life in the textiles, the mill was sold to Londontown Manufacturing Company in the 1960’s and became home to the famous London Fog Raincoats. Today Meadow Mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Included below are quick facts about capacity, logistics and what truly makes The Loom a unique Baltimore wedding venue; hope you find it to be a helpful resource!

the butterfly room at sandtown furniture | industrial baltimore wedding venue

It’s no secret that Baltimore is a city that prides itself on its charm, history and industrial roots. When Sandtown Furniture Co. discovered this incredible brick warehouse in 2021, they had a vision for the space that is unmatched in its attention to design detail while also preserving its rich history dating back to 1885.

As mentioned on The Butterfly Room's website, “only Baltimore would have a wedding venue in a woodshop” …that right there is just one of the many reasons I love Baltimore!! I could list all the reasons why I think The Butterfly Room is an incredible wedding and event venue, but I thought a few (hundred) photos might do a better job than I ever could… ;)

Included below are some FAQs and quick facts about capacity, logistics and what makes The Butterfly Room at Sandtown Furniture Co. such a unique industrial Baltimore wedding venue; hope you find it to be a helpful resource!

Please let me know if you’re planning your wedding here — I’d love to be a part of it!

the butterfly room at sandtown furniture co

There are so many ways to celebrate here, the possibilities are truly endless with this 7,000 sf blank canvas to make your own…

Between the exposed, intricately textured brick walls, the larger-than-life floor to ceiling glass wall that divides the event space from the woodworking space for furniture design and production, to the arched windows letting in tons of natural light from above (at certain times of day it feels heavenly as the sun shines in…) and the 6 foot long hand-carved white oak door pull, you will be in awe as soon as you walk in, promise.

The inspiration for this shoot came from taking a raw industrial, historic warehouse and transforming it to have a warm, romantic, soft and modern elegant look...

The color palette incorporated warm orange-y + mustard yellow tones, honey, rust, amber and beige neutral tones with black accents for a modern, minimal wedding aesthetic. The matte black chairs paired perfectly with this custom Sandtown Furniture Co. walnut wood table and meadow-inspired floral ground arch installation for the ceremony.

Wanton Poppies BLEW ME AWAY with their talent and vision for all of the florals and greenery; a hanging install, a ground arch, 2 different tablescapes (fruit in one, greenery in the other!), a stunning bouquet + boutonniere… you name it, they CRUSHED IT!

ABOUT THE BUTTERFLY ROOM AT SANDTOWN FURNITURE CO.:

What makes The Butterfly Room unique as an industrial wedding venue in Baltimore?

Have you ever been to a wedding in a woodshop? We make handcrafted wood furniture, and we think our event space has one of the coolest views – our woodshop. Additionally, the 30’ high ceilings, the texture + color of the original brick walls, and the 75 arched windows make this space a sight to behold. And with the glass wall, you see all that from every corner of the space.

This space is so full of character, texture and beautiful craftsmanship in the building details and the wood furniture they design. I don’t know of another wedding venue in Baltimore that has this sense of scale to it and is accessibly laid out all on one level.

INTERESTED IN HAVING YOUR WEDDING AT THE BUTTERFLY ROOM? HERE ARE SOME QUICK FACTS:

What was this space used for in its previous life?
This old building was built in 1885 by The Chesapeake Gas Company of Baltimore to be a gas processing plant. It has served Baltimore in many forms over the years; stoves were made here; canning & bottling was done here; but it had been vacant for many years by the time we found it.

Are there any design inspiration or elements that you're particularly proud of and/or excited to see in use?

The glass wall, for sure.  This is the only thing that separates the gallery/event space from the woodshop. That transparency was key for us. When guests are in the gallery, we want them to feel like they’re in the heart of a woodshop.  And we wanted our craftsman to be able do their work in a beautiful space where they love to be. The full-height, full-width glass wall creates that feel.

The arched windows & intricate brick-work are vestiges from another era, and we went to great lengths to preserve all of that. Generally, we’re really proud of how much of the original building remains exactly as it was when we found it.

Those are some of the big moments, but honestly, we obsessed over every little detail just as much. The joinery details on the handmade bathroom vanities + mirrors…the solid concrete light fixtures in the bridal suites….the 6 foot long hand carved white oak door pull…we put so much thought & love into EVERY detail.

How many guests can be accommodated for a seated dinner and dancing?
200 guests

Where do guests park?
Valet parking is required & there is a valet partner who will handle it all.

How many events are hosted per day?
Just yours!

Do couples have access to the entire facility on their wedding day?
The venue has a unique set up; couples and guests have exclusive use of the event spaces and bathrooms on the day of their event. Spaces that are specific to furniture building are not available to guests or vendors.

How early do couples have access to the space on their wedding day?
3 hours prior to the start of the event.

Are there spaces for the wedding party to get ready on site?
Yes, we have 2 really beautiful separate spaces that are included with the rental.

Are outside caterers permitted?
We have a carefully selected group of caterers on our exclusive list. Please contact us for more information.

Is a representative from the venue going to be on-site for the duration of the event?
Yes! A representative will be on-site to ensure the venue is operating as expected. We do require that weddings have a professional wedding planner to execute the vision of your day.

What does it cost to host a wedding at The Butterfly Room?
As we launch the venue, we are offering a limited number of slots at a promotional rate. Please contact us for current rates and availability.

What is included with our rental of the space?
7,000 square feet in the main space, plus 2 suites (getting ready rooms), bathrooms and the catering area.

Is the venue accessible?
Yes, nearly the entire venue is accessible. One of the getting ready rooms is up a small flight of stairs.

Is the venue climate controlled?
All of the event space is fully climate controlled, and the main shop space has heat.

whitney + ryan | a maryland zoo + rawlings conservatory elopement

The only thing that could have made Whitney + Ryan’s elopement better would have been if their 4 cats could have joined in the fun… yes, 4 (all named for mushrooms: Shiitake, Porcini, Enoki and Crimini)!

So, naturally the next best thing was to include a penguin and get married in an intimate elopement ceremony at the Maryland Zoo. Taylor of Taylored Vows, officiated and inspired not only smiles and loving glances, but memorable laughter throughout their vows on the steps of the Mansion House.

I couldn’t be more excited to share what their day looked like… CONGRATULATIONS, W+R!!

WHITNEY + RYAN’S MARYLAND ZOO + RAWLINGS CONSERVATORY ELOPEMENT WAS FULL OF FUN, CANDID JOY AND A PENGUIN!

It was just the 2 of them, myself, their officiant, and their own personal chauffeur (from the zoo) to take us around for photos, after getting close and cozy with Lilly, the penguin! A true elopement that was so much fun and exactly what Whitney and Ryan wanted for their wedding…

It didn’t rain at all, despite the threatening skies (but I wore boots and had umbrellas just in case! The sun showed up during their vows and then went back to hiding behind clouds for their portraits… this was actually a great thing since it meant less squinty eyes!

We ended outside among the lush gardens at Rawlings Conservatory and took some of my FAVE PHOTOS EVER because they’re so stinkin’ cute together and we had the place to ourselves (another reason Tuesday weddings are worth it!!)

Whitney and Ryan, you two compliment each other so perfectly and share such a special connection, I can’t thank you enough for the opportunity to document your elopement! I hope this day was full of more happiness and love than you could have imagined… and it only gets better from here!

Naomi

rachel + jordan | a classic, fun + luxe spring wedding at the belvedere in baltimore

The amount of joy and happy tears present at Rachel + Jordan’s wedding at the Belvedere on a late spring Sunday in March was truly immeasurable! Their love for each other, their families, friends and Baltimore, the city they call home — it was all such an incredible celebration full of energy, romance, a scented ceremony (!) and the most stunning chuppah I have ever seen!!

Enjoy these early favorites from Rachel + Jordan’s classic spring Belvedere wedding in Baltimore…

THE 9 MEMORABLE MOMENTS AND DETAILS FROM R+J’S BELVEDERE WEDDING THAT WILL MAKE YOU SMILE:

  1. Rachel wore pearl earrings from one grandmother and a vintage diamond ring from her other grandmother. Jordan wore sloth astronaut cufflinks!! Read their engagement blog post for more on the meaning of the sloth astronaut! ;)

  2. Their first look on the promenade was full of overwhelming emotion, bringing tears to Jordan’s eyes and the need to pause while taking it all in, especially how gorgeous Rachel looked!

  3. Rachel designed the ceremony space and guest entry sequence to smell of their favorite Jo Malone scent. It was a first for me; I’m convinced it’s one of the best ways to personalize a wedding, since scent is a huge memory driver!!!

  4. The chuppah was one of the most beautifully lush I’ve ever seen, constructed with gold frames by Victoria Clausen and flowered by Steelcut with shades of maroon, burgundy, magenta, toffee, light pink and peach in varieties of roses, peonies, orchids, anemones, hanging amaranthus and more. The sweetheart table was also overflowing with these flowers in an asymmetrical arrangement. There were also pomegranates in the table floral arrangements…!

    (continued below…)

5. The speeches made by both sets of parents and Congressman and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, brought tears to my eyes. So much respect and pride shared for these lovebirds; it was simply an honor to be in their presence.

6. The black and white checkered dance floor brightened up the space and added the perfect punch of contrast to draw your attention to the twirls and epic moves of their first dance.

7. R+J and all of their guests wore sneakers (some were so creatively decorated!) to honor Jordan’s late brother, a talented basketball player and coach.

8. Rachel made an entrance on the cream cruiser bike to announce dessert, in her second party dress full of sparkle, fringe and celebration!

9. We were able to take portraits in Mt. Vernon under the blooming magnolia trees near the Washington Monument and it felt like we were in Europe among all the cobblestones and beautiful architecture surrounding us!

We also made sure to explore the venue fully since there are so many iconic and unique backdrops for photos at the Belvedere — we took portraits in the Owl Bar, the romantic nook on the 12th floor, the window above the marquee and the 13th Floor during the after party.

MAZEL TOV, Rachel + Jordan!!! It was an absolute honor to document these memories for you! Your wedding was so much fun, photogenic, elegant and meaningful - like you two and your incredible relationship. I hope you continue laughing, dancing, eating, holding hands and travelling together for decades to come… you are such an inspiration to us all!

Naomi

heather + geof | a flower-filled, romantic + intimate spring wedding at citron

On an unseasonably warm and (eventually) bright and sunny March Saturday, Heather & Geof were married at Citron, among their closest friends and family and it was a day filled with warmth in so many ways!

The day had a relaxing feel from the start at the Sagamore Pendry in Fells Point with Remy, their sweet little pup there for lots of sweet snuggles and smiles. When added to Heather’s impeccable sense of style, the way Geof looks at her, the TWO confetti tosses, glowing sun during the lakeside ceremony and warm wishes and memories shared during multiple toasts throughout their 6 course dinner, their wedding was absolutely incredible!

Enjoy these early highlights from Heather + Geof’s spring wedding at Citron, overlooking Quarry Lake…

3 HIGHLIGHTS FROM HEATHER + GEOF’S
PRE-CEREMONY MOMENTS AT THE PENDRY:

  1. It was one of the first things I noticed when I arrived — the calm excitement that Heather exuded while getting ready. With an effortless chic, and timeless sense of style; the feather-trimmed crepe strapless midi dress she chose from 16 Arlington looked like it was made just for her. I loved the custom light blue Jimmy Choo heels with the date inscribed on the bottom; it was a fun and unexpected touch since Geof’s bright navy Indochino suit had the date embroidered inside as well.

  2. Her bouquet from Local Color Flowers was made up of shades of cream, blush, light pink and the most perfect pale spring yellow among anemones, ranunculus, butterfly ranunculus and eucalyptus (and more local flowers that I never remember the names of)!

  3. Their private first look on the balcony overlooking the heart of Fells Point followed by portraits in the modern courtyard at the Pendry and a confetti toss during group photos on the water… it was perfection in so many ways!!

4 UNFORGETTABLE ELEMENTS FROM H+G’S INTIMATE WEDDING CEREMONY + DINNER RECEPTION AT CITRON:

  1. The bright ceremony on the water - not a cloud in the sky! A gentle breeze came through as Heather met Geof at the altar and her veil had a mind of it’s own, adding lighthearted laughter to the start of the moving ceremony that ended in a joyful bubble exit!

  2. We took golden hour photos out on the deck as the sun went down and the minimal yet modern copper arch wrapped in spring blooms and flowering branches, formed such a gorgeous backdrop for their couple’s portraits. I couldn’t get enough!!

  3. Guests were seated at two long rectangular tables with floral arrangements of varying heights, wooden crossback chairs, modern menus, gold flatware, votives and a beautifully subtle gold and ivory patterned linen.

  4. Two Rivers Chamber Music played instrumental music throughout dinner and ended the night with their favorite song, Everlong as Heather + Geof ran through a tunnel of confetti tossed by their guests; it was energetic, fun and such a perfect send-off for these adorable newlyweds!

Cheers to you, Heather and Geof! You deserve all the happiness and joy that this season of life will bring; your wedding was incredibly warm (literally, 70 degrees in March!), bright, loving and full of so many memorable moments.

I wish you all the best and can’t wait to see your future adventures together (with Remy alongside, of course)!

Naomi

13 of the best unique and intimate wedding venues in baltimore

Having an intimate wedding celebration is the perfect way to celebrate what makes your relationship memorable, unique and fun… there are so many benefits to having a smaller celebration (but that’s a topic for an entirely separate blog post)!

Micro weddings with an intimate group of loved ones have become increasingly popular — in this blog post I’m highlighting some of my favorite Baltimore venues for a tiny wedding ceremony and reception celebration. There are so many places in Charm City to bring family and friends together that speak to your values, personalities and relationship.

Enjoy these 13 unique and beautifully intimate and photogenic (both inside and out!) wedding venues in Baltimore!

  1. The Ivy Hotel; luxe 19th century restored mansion in historic Mt. Vernon

The sunken, private courtyard is my favorite place for an intimate wedding ceremony within The Ivy Hotel. It is lush, serene, meticulously designed and allows you to feel like you’re in an exquisite urban oasis.

Planning a first look? The conservatory is a gorgeous backdrop for this special moment with a modern black and white aesthetic softened by all the greenery and old-world furnishings.

2. Sagamore Pendry; sophisticated, lush and stylish former pier building at the center of historic Fells Point

This venue earns all the heart eyes if you ask me — there are so many photogenic spots!! The hardest part is narrowing down where to take your portraits. The modern glass facade along Thames St. in the heart of Fells Point showcases the historic Main Street buildings across the street while the iconic red carpeted staircase feels chic, timeless and grand.

The courtyard is an incredibly lush and contemporary garden space that is like nothing you’ve ever experienced before and looks beautiful no matter the season.

3. Rye Street Tavern; refined, modern distillery on the waterfront in South Baltimore

It’s probably no secret that well-designed spaces catch my eye (thanks to my degree and previous career in architecture and design!); both the Sagamore Spirit Distillery and Rye Street Tavern are as crisp and contemporary as they come. With interiors designed by Patrick Sutton, this venue offers a warm, relaxed and polished vibe with unobstructed views of the industrial waterfront.

4. Mt. Washington Mill Dye House; industrial textile mill with historic character and modern design in Northern Baltimore

Full of rustic stone and brick, the courtyard space at the Dye House is perfect for intimate outdoor ceremonies; the large tree centrally located at one end adds a splash of green and softens the feel of the patio. The back patio is a fabulous place to have dinner under the stars with 30 people… adding bistro lights takes it to another level!

5. Gunther & Co; urban chic with a 16’ high living plant wall in Brewer’s Hill

This former brewery turned New American restaurant is full of modern design and brick + bluestone outdoor spaces that are stunning for photos; in the warmer months, the hanging greenery frames a beautiful place for cozy and fun moments together.

6. Artifact Coffee; historic mill building with cozy coffeehouse vibes near Clipper Mill and Woodberry

Full of charm, character and a cozy, romantic atmosphere, Artifact Coffee not only makes delicious coffee, but makes you look good inside or outside of its walls. The patio area surrounded by rustic, stone walls is simply perfect for small outdoor ceremonies.

Bonus that Clipper Mill is just a short walk away for some epic shots full of all the industrial vibes and textured backdrops you can imagine!

7. Rawlings Conservatory; botanical gardens + glass conservatory in Druid Hill Park

The architecture and design of this glass conservatory is an incredible backdrop on its own, yet the gardens flanking the front and side of the exquisitely planted grounds and the incredible variety of rooms and spaces inside, will leave you with endless choices for backdrops… it’s truly a garden lover’s dream come true, right in Baltimore city!

Established in 1888, the greenhouses are organized by climate and include a Mediterranean greenhouse, a tropical forest greenhouse, a desert greenhouse, an orchid room and the Palm House.

8. Woodberry Kitchen; rustic industrial within Clipper Mill

The string lights and vaulted ceiling with full-length windows let in as much natural light as possible and worn wood floorboards underfoot, add a romantic feel as your guests mingle...

The firepit patio area is surrounded by a facade of beautiful arches to form a backdrop to your portraits. If we have time to explore the rest of the Clipper Mill area, there are so many brick, wood and iron textured patterns to take advantage of!

No matter the season, Woodberry Kitchen’s vibe is always cozy, warm, comfortable and full of incredible food and aromas.

9. Heron Room; charming, natural, industrial vibes at Mill No. 1 on the Jones Falls

This restored mill complex is one of my favorites in Baltimore for many reasons; the views from the bridge above the Jones Falls are like nothing else in Baltimore and the texture of the brick and oversized rusted shutters just give it so much charm.

The cobblestone courtyard allows your ceremony to feel like you’re in a European piazza! Guests can enjoy cocktail hour outside on the overlook facing the Falls and you can have your first look and portraits in a number of places. It’s also dog-friendly!

10. Cielo Verde; a Latin-Mediteranean garden restaurant (operated by the Alma Cocina Latina team)

If you love food that is unique, full of flavor and an art form in and of itself, Cielo Verde will check all of your boxes! Located at the top of the AVAM with sweeping views of Federal Hill and the Inner Harbor, this restaurant has a beautiful private terrace and is filled with bright light and lush greenery throughout.

11. Mt. Washington Tavern; modern bistro with a Chesapeake Bay equestrian theme

With a modern aesthetic full of natural light, Mt. Washington Tavern has a variety of spaces to celebrate and a fun classic tavern feel both upstairs and downstairs.

The Pimlico and Chesapeake Rooms are bright and spacious, while the Sky Bar’s open-air seating area overlooks the heart of Mt. Washington.

12. Blue Pit BBQ; woman-owned, dog-friendly bbq + whiskey bar in Woodberry

This hidden gem in the Woodberry neighborhood has the best BBQ in Baltimore; their upstairs room and back patio make intimate wedding celebrations easy, laidback and fun so you can enjoy the day with your favorite people and know the food/drink and atmosphere are more than taken care of.

Everything at Blue Pit BBQ is made from scratch: meats are smoked slow and low, sides are carefully crafted and cocktails use fresh squeezed juices and homemade syrups. Blue Pit BBQ is named for pit bbq and their beloved blue pit bull… I love their dog-friendly patio that always welcomes well-behaved pups!

13. your rooftop deck and favorite spots in Charm City… (I’m 100% SERIOUS!)

Some of my favorite couples chose to elope at the Baltimore City or Towson courthouse and then go on a tour stopping at the places that are most meaningful to them… nothing is off limits!

  • Want to flower a bench on a street close to your rowhome? DO IT!

  • Have a rooftop deck with killer views of Federal Hill, Patterson Park or Canton? LET’S GO.

  • Want to sit in Patterson Park and enjoy the greenery with a relaxing picnic or charcuterie board? WHY NOT!

I hope this list is a helpful starting point for the intimate wedding you may be planning in Baltimore… there are so many incredibly unique and creative venues and locations to get married in throughout Charm City!

Please reach out if you have specific questions about any of them or others you’re considering, I love learning about new venues and using my architecture and design background to be a helpful resource…

christina + tony | a modern, industrial chic wedding at the winslow

I’m still on a high from Christina and Tony’s wedding at The Winslow that left us all speechless for so many reasons!! These lovebirds had an incredible vision to celebrate their modern love story and all the planning paid off…

I’m so excited to share these early favorites for you to enjoy - they waited an entire extra year to get married and celebrate (thanks to Covid); I think the wait was well worth it, but I’m so glad they’re finally officially husband and wife!!

There were so many incredible details with so much thought put into them by Christina, Tony, their families and the entire design + planning team of Lemon and Lime Event Design…

Here are my top 7 favorite elements and moments from their chic October wedding at The Winslow:

  1. Setting the tone for their modern and elegant celebration full of black and white details, guests received a custom invitation suite with an envelope liner that incorporated art Christina painted herself!

    • Her beautiful abstract painting also formed the background to the custom welcome sign that said ‘It’s Friday, I’m in Love’ since their wedding took place on a Friday (obviously)!

  2. With Tony’s passion for photography and film as inspiration for the escort card display, guests found their names and seating assignments on rolls of film mounted on a display that said ‘You’ve Captured My Heart’ and included 7 of Tony’s cameras.

  3. The ceremony in the train shed at The Winslow was so luxe, elegant and minimal:

    • an edgy and modern floral installation made up of rich, moody tones and lots of texture, hung on a gridded backdrop against a light gray draping

    • smoke gray ghost chairs provided seating for guests in a way that allowed Christina and Tony to be surrounded by loved ones on 3 sides

    • they said their vows in a heartwarming exchange on a black riser with a hard aisle runner (also black) that gave the ceremony space such a unique and sleek look

  4. In the cocktail area, guests were able to leave messages on a black and brass vintage Fete Fone - love the idea of an audio guest book!

    • Oysters and a mouthwatering charcuterie spread greeted guests after ceremony near the bar

    • Black custom napkins with 4 different copper foil-lettered quotes from the Office and Friends

  5. Their first look outside the Winslow followed by a festive and fun confetti toss with their wedding party wearing all black, other than Christina in white and Tony in a maroon tux (+ a floral pocket square… OBSESSED!).

  6. All of the romantic, textured florals in every space and on every surface. Christina’s bouquet (and Tony’s floral pocket square on a smaller scale) were made up of light colored dahlias, roses and ranunculus with darker pops of flowers and greenery that eluded to early Fall.

    • the flowers and greenery in the ceremony and reception at the venue were darker and full of moodier elements that softened the industrial space

  7. Now, the reception details… where do I begin?! I’m going to let the photos do most of the talking for these, so PLEASE scroll down to see it all!!! But here are the highlights:

    • a mirrored dance floor for guests to dance to live music by the Onyx Band, on a stage lined with greenery

    • white plaster textured dining tables for the sweetheart and wedding party tables with black velvet dining chairs and a brushed gold frame; these tables had matte black chargers with clear glass dinner plates with a white rim and brushed gold flatware

    • velvet and leather lounge seating with gold accents; black plaster tables with smoke gray ghost chairs

    • hanging bistro lights that allowed the long tables to appear suspended and cast a beautifully warm and cozy glow on the entire space

    • polished black chrome chairs for the tables above and below the mezzanine; these round tables had matte black plates and tortoise and gold flatware

    • lush floral centerpieces and a variety of candles in black + pink in glass cylindrical and rectangular hurricanes

elizabeth + steven | a lush, romantic micro wedding at the tannery barn

The sky was bright, the temperatures were warm and Elizabeth and Steven were beyond ready to be married at the Tannery Barn and celebrate with their loved ones in an intimate dinner under the stars.

This minimal, modern white barn with lush greenery and gardens surrounding it on all sides is an absolutely stunning Maryland venue full of charm, character and clean lines. It was the perfect space for Elizabeth and Steven’s intimate wedding ceremony — enjoy these early favorites!!!

4 MEMORABLE MOMENTS FROM E+S’ INTIMATE WEDDING AT THE TANNERY BARN:

  1. Their first look — both full of such wonderful excitement and energy, their expressions said it all; they had waited so long for this day and to become husband and wife… I’m so glad they were able to have a few private moments to themselves!

  2. The moment when their youngest son saw Elizabeth all dressed up was so incredibly loving and sweet. He was speechless, of course! :)

  3. Their intimate dinner under the stars in the courtyard with one long table for their 20 guests, bistro lights hanging above and green and white florals and flatware to compliment the surrounding gardens.

  4. Right before I left, Steven did a handstand and walked on his hands across the lawn so we could get a photo of it since he’s so good at what he does; it was awe-inspiring!

Congratulations again, Mr. + Mrs. Hamilton!! Your families were such a joy to be around, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to document this memorable day for you both!

Wishing you the brightest future together filled with lots of good food, great conversation and many more beautiful dinners under the stars!

meghan + justin | a colorful wedding at mt. washington mill dye house

Meghan and Justin’s wedding at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House was colorful, meaningful, intimate and full of unique and memorable moments and details… it was such a joy to see them married in a beautifully historic, industrial space that allowed them to celebrate safely outdoors with their closest family and friends in attendance.

They’re such a photogenic couple in one of my favorite venues in Baltimore; enjoy these favorites from their celebration!!

5 MEMORABLE DETAILS FROM M+J’S INTIMATE WEDDING AT THE DYE HOUSE

  1. Meghan and Justin’s invitation suite that was so modern, bold and graphic, designed by artist Dave Cole.

  2. The bright, colorful florals that Mallory of Violet Florals designed to be lush, vibrant and full of texture were so warm and inviting in lending a soft feel to the brick and stone at the venue.

  3. Justin received a bracelet from Meghan instead of a wedding ring and wore his mother’s name necklace so that she was there with him.

  4. Justin met Meghan halfway during her walk down the aisle which spoke volumes to me about their relationship.

  5. Celebrating entirely outdoors under the stars within the courtyard and patio of the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House was so special — not only from a health safety standpoint, but the late September weather was simply cozy and perfect to dine and dance alfresco.

Congratulations again, Meghan and Justin!! Having the opportunity to document your bright, joyful and intimate wedding celebration at the Dye House was an absolute honor - you two have such an inspiring relationship full of respect, curiosity and kindness.

I wish you all the best as you continue to enjoy lazy evenings and lots of exciting adventures and conversations, building your lives together.

lizzie + jon | a heron room wedding full of muted + modern textured details

Lizzie and Jon are not only the best parents to their #urbanrowpup, Molly, but they have a killer sense of style, an impeccable eye for design and hosted an unforgettable wedding day that was intimate, modern, gorgeous, industrial and fun.

Living in Clipper Mill (my favorite historic + industrial neighborhood in Baltimore!), we took both their engagement photos there and Jon getting ready with his groomsmen and Molly, of course. :) The vibe of the entire day was relaxed yet excited, which led to some incredible candid moments with everyone!

Enjoy these early favorites from their wedding, 2+ years in the making… I am SO happy for you two and constantly want to relive this day!!!

6 memorable moments and details from Lizzie and Jon’s Heron Room wedding

  1. The modern, muted and natural palette of organic texture, lush florals and mixed metals. The velvet dress that Lizzie’s sister Catherine wore, paired with the beading on Lizzie’s gown beautifully complimented and softened the historic brick and stone buildings of the old Mill.

  2. Their pup Molly, was a huge part of the day bringing lots of smiles to everyone!

  3. Jon looked so dapper in his crisp navy suit with a polka dot tie. When he and his groomsmen put on their sunglasses, I felt like I was on the set of a GQ photoshoot.

  4. All of the lush, greenery combined with the textured brick and cobblestones at the Heron Room and the Mill No. 1 complex along the Jones Falls made it feel like we were in a tiny, cozy European city.

  5. The floral arch by Emma of Steelcut Flower Co. was not only a gorgeous backdrop for their ceremony, but was able to be repurposed as their seating chart that Lizzie made in varying shades of pink to compliment the warm tones at the venue.

  6. Forgoing the traditional parent dances, they instead had 5 toasts and speeches that brought everyone to tears and then kicked off a dance party that never stopped!

Congratulations, Lizzie + Jon! I can’t express how happy I am for you both and your families and how grateful I am to have been able to document this day… all the stars aligned to make your wedding day happen in a beautifully, relaxed and intimate way with your favorite people next to you!

Here’s to so many more moments together with Molly, dance party beats and the most beautiful memories, both big and small…

alissa + joe | a joyful and relaxed summer wedding at Dulany's Overlook

As we arrived at Dulany’s Overlook to begin celebrating Alissa + Joe’s wedding day, a light drizzle was coming down, moving quickly through the mountains near Frederick, MD. Slowly but surely, the rain moved out and beautiful fluffy clouds emerged, revealing a gorgeous, sunny blue sky on this hot Saturday in August…

These two lovebirds have been waiting years for this day, like so many other couples that had to postpone due to Covid. However, the love that was shared and the joy that was felt from start to finish throughout the day, was nothing short of incredible! Many couples want a fun and memorable party with their guests — Alissa and Joe ensured that happened by designing a relaxed wedding day that not only celebrated their first anniversary on this exact date, but included delicious food (a BBQ buffet by P.I.G.S. = yes, please!) and nonstop dancing with a spontaneous and spur of the moment limbo using Joe’s tie (scroll down to see the beautiful energy on this dance floor!).

Words can’t do it justice, so I’ll just let you see it through the expressions on Alissa’s face!

7 MEMORABLE ELEMENTS FROM ALISSA + JOE’S JOYFUL WEDDING AT DULANY’S OVERLOOK

  1. A stunning late summer bouquet by Shelly Black full of deep maroons, bright oranges, pops of dusty blue, cream roses and eucalyptus among lots of other textured blooms.

  2. The pampas grass in glass vessels lining the ceremony aisle in the woods that led to the asymmetrical white and green blooms at the altar, complimenting the neutral tones of the bridesmaids’ green and white bouquets.

  3. Alissa’s entire bridal look, but especially her side braid and long, loose curls cascading down.

  4. Her first look with her dad as she came down the stairs of the manor house, and then with Joe in front of the sweetest little stone shed, covered in ivy… both brought tears to all of our eyes!

  5. The color palette of the wedding party was made up of grays, sage green and blush tones in a soft, elegant, modern and romantic way — a perfect compliment to the natural, muted shades of the venue and rolling hills in the distance. I loved that the groomsmen all wore gray suits and sage green ties, but Joe had a slightly darker shade to his suit... it was subtle and so perfect!

  6. The historic brick manor house was a spacious and elegant place for both sides of the wedding party to get ready (Alissa and her bridesmaids were upstairs with tons of natural light, while Joe and the groomsmen were downstairs in the fun, stone room) and a very short walk to the ceremony in the woods and their cocktail hour and reception in the bank barn.

  7. The love these two share is an inspiration to all of us! All they’ve been through in the last year and a half while planning their wedding is more than most, yet they always remained optimistic, kind and full of grace through it all.

ilana + ben | elegant garden wedding at Tusculum Farm

As soon as I arrived at Tusculum Farm for Ilana + Ben’s intimate wedding, I knew it was going to be a beautiful day. The gardens were lush and in bloom, the sky was full of fluffy clouds and Ben’s dad happened to meet me as I parked my car.

Shortly before my first conversation with Ilana and Ben, I had recently photographed a wedding here. I mentioned it to them since they were still looking for a venue to get married that would allow their closest family and friends to stay and relax in a serene setting for a few days. Ben’s dad mentioned to me how grateful they were to have found this incredible wedding venue / family retreat after I suggested it… I’m just so glad it resonated with them!

The idea of a wedding as a relaxing retreat with your favorite people is the best thing ever — isn’t it?! While at Tusculum Farm, it truly feels like an escape from the rest of the world. I’m so excited to share Ilana and Ben’s wedding with you that was full of SO many memorable and magical moments unique to them, their values and beliefs.

urban-row-photo-waterfront-golden-hour-sunset-portraits_0050.jpg
urban-row-photo-golden-hour-sunset-wedding-portraits_0047.jpg

These two beautiful souls share immense joy in just being present and it’s so easy to see how they are better together. Ben’s calmness is a perfect compliment to Ilana’s joie-de-vivre; at their engagement session, Ilana surprised Ben with a chess board because he loves games, strategy and puzzles. They share such a deep love of food, family and togetherness; I hope you enjoy these moments from their elegant farm wedding!

urban-row-photo-joyful-bride-candid-wedding-portrait_0046.jpg

8 DETAILS FROM ILANA + BEN’S TUSCULUM FARM WEDDING THAT WILL MAKE YOU SMILE:

  1. Ilana got ready in the Fox Den suite of the modern farmhouse while Ben got ready and enjoyed time with his family during the Tisch in the Hay Barn. Both settings were incredibly relaxed, spacious and comfortable.

  2. They wed under a chuppah that Ilana hand-painted, her veil was made from French lace that had been worn by 4 generations before her and Ben’s kittel was also passed down to him.

  3. A whimsical garden feel was woven throughout their details; Ilana’s gown was modern, elegant and full of lace florals while her heirloom lace veil had the most intricate detail - I couldn’t stop staring at it!

Ben and his brother / best man, both wore floral shirts from Paisley & Gray.

Ilana’s wildflower bouquet, chuppah florals and bud vases at the reception from Lucky Penny Floral were the perfect variety of scale, color and texture.

  4. While seeing each other for their first look, they chose to read notes to each other. Ilana mentioned that hers wasn’t fully complete yet; the full version was on the computer, she just didn’t get to finish writing it all out… made for such a fun, honest, laugh between them!

  5. The ketubah signing was followed by the bedeken and prayers for both Ilana and Ben by each of their parents. Since the veil was so long, Ilana got tangled up in it and it made for such a fun sequence of photos (see below)!

  6. With such an intimate group, they invited most of their guests to come up individually and say a blessing during their ceremony.

  7. Guests waved fabric streamers at the end of their ceremony to celebrate as they recessed down the aisle; colorful ribbon was also strung from the barn and the back of their chairs, to add a festive touch to the outdoor reception!

  8. Cocktail hour was held by the pool, dinner was held under the stars overlooking the fields and dancing began as the full moon rose. There are SO many places to take photos (I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since they own 500 acres!), I could have easily spent all day taking their portraits… at the pond, near the greenhouse garden, the courtyard and gardens behind the house, the pool, the large lawn with the enormous trees, the Hay Barn, the rolling hills and fields…

francesca + zach | a classic and romantic spring wedding at the Grand Lodge

On a bright and sunny Saturday in May, Francesca and Zach were married at the Grand Lodge in Cockeysville surrounded by their friends, family and some incredible Italian traditions, food, dancing and decor.

This breathtaking wedding was originally supposed to happen in September but due to Covid it was postponed and thankfully, Mother Nature was on her best behavior for us!

urban-row-photo-golden-hour-sunset-portraits_0060.jpg

THIS MAY WEDDING WILL MAKE YOU SWOON FOR 3 REASONS…

  1. The golden hour sunset was EPIC but we almost missed it! They are my favorite images to end a wedding day with but the sun never waits, so we had to keep a close eye on the timeline (dinner, dancing, speeches, etc) and make sure to grab Francesca and Zach right as the sun got low enough to make magic like this… SO worth it!

  2. Francesca’s dress was absolutely perfect for her; full of gorgeous floral lace detail and a sweetheart neckline with straps, it added so much to the elegant, classic and romantic spring feel. She accessorized with blue Badgley Mischka heels, a cathedral veil, long sparkly earrings and an updo full of loose curls.

  3. The ballroom was fully draped with a braided pattern behind the band’s stage; guests enjoyed a variety of seating with 2 gold and burgundy lounge setups flanking the dance floor. Francesca + Zach’s sweetheart table was full of tall candles and an enormous blush, ivory and burgundy floral arrangement.

Arriving at the Grand Lodge after the church ceremony in Canton meant it was time for wedding party and family portraits; we found the perfect spot in the courtyard and among some of the mature trees surrounding the property!

The ballroom setup was complete before guests entered and the oversized mirror with guests’ seating assignments (scroll down to see!) and the enormous 4 tiered wedding cake were some of my favorite unique elements!!

Onyx Band kept the dance floor rocking NONSTOP the entire night, it was incredible! There were 10 band members and they were all so talented and entertaining!
