On a breezy and bright blue-skied early October Saturday, Madeline and Jacob became husband and wife in front of not only their closest friends and family, but the cutest retro s’mores camping trailer and the glistening waterfront of the DC Wharf…

The inspiration for their elegant and cozy Fall wedding celebration was all thanks to the start of their relationship taking place in Colorado; M+J’s first date involved leaf peeping, so incorporating all the Fall vibes into their wedding day was Event Planning DC’s task and they crushed it, as usual!

I couldn’t be happier to share these favorites from their wedding —it was such a memorable day for such sweet families coming together!

5 MEMORABLE MOMENTS AND DETAILS FROM M+J’S WEDDING AT THE INTERCONTINENTAL WHARF DC

1. Jacob was so emotional during the ceremony… which is proof that by doing a first look, it doesn’t mean your partner won’t be emotional when they see you walk down the aisle!!

2. Madeline’s grandma was their flower girl and had a smile on her face from start to finish down the aisle!

3. Their favorite local musician, Cris Jacobs, played at the ceremony and cocktail hour.

4. The florals + greenery were so lush and full of Fall colors and textures; the chuppah was made up of white birch posts topped with flowers in shades of dark orange, gold, mustard, ivory and soft dried grasses.

5. The reception ballroom was incredibly cozy, romantic and elegant! With tables full of colored amber and green glassware, gold placesettings and garlands of greenery on the table as well as hanging above the head table with hanging candles, I couldn’t get enough!

Congrats again, Madeline + Jacob! It was such an honor to document your wedding day and be a part of the official start to your MD adventures as husband and wife!

I hope you both continue to enjoy making each other laugh and dancing with Laila, for decades to come!!

2019 In Review | candid, fun and vibrant wedding photography for modern couples

Getting married is definitely one of those pinch-me moments in life, but I continue to pinch myself after 10+ years of marriage because I am lucky enough to document authentic love stories, full-time. I truly mean that; I feel so lucky every single day to celebrate love and document memories for future generations as my career and passion.

2019 was quite a year… I’m going to let these photos do the talking since they do a better job than my words ever could. The joy and energy that our couples bring to every interaction I have with them is refreshing, energizing and so full of love and personality. I was honored to be the wedding and portrait photographer for these fun, genuine and passionate couples and families, with even more Baltimore and Maryland weddings to come in 2020!

sneak peeks | audrey + todd's intimate intercontinental dc wharf wedding

The first time I visited the Intercontinental Wharf in DC, I fell in love. Being a part of Audrey and Todd’s intimate wedding at this incredible waterfront location left me speechless and more in love... with venues that are exquisitely thoughtful in their design; full of clean lines and modern finishes, with couples that know exactly what they want and know how to bring out the best in each other and with #urpcouples that celebrate by playing 90s hip-hop at their reception all. night. long.

I could have photographed Audrey getting ready in the corner bridal suite ALL DAY. She had such gorgeous taste in her bridal details and they complimented the venue so well; gold, cream and the lightest hint of blush wedding spirit garden roses, cafe au lait dahlias and eucalyptus intertwined along the top of the flower framed chuppah and all throughout her incredible bouquet by B Floral Event Design.

Enjoy some of my favorite early favorites of Audrey + Todd’s Intercontinental DC Wharf Wedding from this weekend!!

Their ketubah was made by Ink with Intent and was absolutely incredible! It was an intricate, minimalist fine art paper cut design made out of one sheet of laser cut paper. At this moment, one of Audrey’s good friends and witnesses to the ketubah signing with Rabbi Evan Krame of The Jewish Studio, made a joke about how she signs her name and the whole room erupted into laughter… it was such a fun way to officially mark the beginning of their marriage.

The talis shown forming the top of their chuppah, was used by Audrey’s parents when they got married and both of the couple’s parents have now been married over 30+ years…

audrey + todd | a spring capitol hill engagement

Living in one of the most picturesque neighborhoods in DC, when Audrey suggested taking their engagement photos on Capitol Hill among all of the beautifully painted brick rowhouses, I knew we were in for a treat. Add in blooming cherry blossoms, magnolias and tree-lined streets with brick sidewalks, it was so much fun exploring the neighborhood with these two!

Audrey wore an adorable little black dress with a scalloped edge neckline (that I absolutely loved btw) and nude-colored heels that weren’t the easiest thing to stroll around the neighborhood in, so she brought a pair of flat sandals. Highly recommend this method to all future #urpbrides - no need to sacrifice fashion for function if you don’t mind carrying a pair of comfy flats and slipping in and out of them as we stop for great spots… ;) it was a hot April afternoon but you’d never know it while looking at these cozy moments together!

Your September wedding at the Intercontinental Wharf along the waterfront in DC is going to be incredible! With an elegant, simple and contemporary design to their event spaces and a neutral color palette to accentuate views of the Potomac River, I can not wait to see it all unfold and capture your love story among close family and friends from both coasts!
