allyson + matt | an elegant spring wedding at the assembly room
/It was a beautiful spring day for Allyson and Matt’s wedding at the Assembly Room in downtown Baltimore — the sun was shining, there was a slight breeze along the water for their first look and most importantly, all of their families and friends were overflowing with love and joy as they watched these cuties officially become husband and wife!
6 UNIQUE DETAILS FROM A+M’S ELEGANT, INDUSTRIAL WEDDING AT THE ASSEMBLY ROOM
Allyson’s classic plunging v-neck ballgown had pockets (!!!) and the most gorgeous train and lace back detail
Matt’s reaction to seeing Allyson for the first time… he just kept saying “wow…” it was the actual sweetest.
During their ceremony, Allyson’s bridesmaid read a poem that was personalized for them and so incredibly cute!
They used Allyson’s parents wedding cake topper for theirs - it was perfect.
The most dramatic and fun light pouring through the Assembly Room skylights during their portraits.
Allyson’s aunts and uncles had a blast on the dance floor and you can easily tell who came to party!
The view from and vibe in their getting ready suites at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront was amazing; so calm, confident and ready to do this wedding thing! Allyson’s dress and Matt’s tux were so classically elegant — I could not get enough of those dress pockets!!!
When it came time for their first look on the promenade, the sun was shining, their families were cheering them on and Allyson’s veil couldn’t wait for it’s time to shine. Having an intimate wedding party of 2 on each side meant we could get creative with portraits by the water and stay ahead of schedule all day long… not to mention, having fun while taking them!
Congratulations, Allyson & Matt!! We were incredibly honored to be a part of your wedding memories and hope you continue dancing in the streets for decades to come! Thanks for being so willing to trust us and go along with all our crazy ideas, you two (and your families) are truly the best!

Naomi

sneak peeks | steve + joe's baltimore wedding at the assembly room
/To say it was an honor to be a part of Stephen + Joe’s wedding is an understatement. It’s hard for me to put into words how much love and connection was palpable between these two and their family, friends and guests!
The day started with Joe getting ready at their home in Bolton Hill (where their #urbanrowpup Luther stayed close to him the entire time!) and Steve getting ready at Hotel Indigo, downtown. As the trolley rolled up to Hotel Indigo, Steve and Joe saw each other in their custom tuxedos for the first time and joined their wedding party for a fun and lively trolley ride down to Fells Point for portraits and back to Mt. Vernon park for the ceremony.
In front of 250 friends and family, there were heartfelt stories of love, connection and memories shared. Vows started with “I’m going to try not to ugly cry...” and ended with stories of spontaneous decisions early in their relationship that are an invaluable part of their story to this day.
My favorite part of the day was when the ceremony was over and the entire wedding party and their guests walked Steve and Joe down to the Assembly Room, along the sidewalks and through the streets of Baltimore… it was such a sight to see so many people gathered together to share in and support their wedding!
We couldn’t be happier for you, Steve and Joe! Your marriage and the strong connection you two share is something so many hope for. Here’s to dancing in the streets together for years to come...

Naomi

GROOMS: 3 things to know before your wedding
/Let’s be honest… as a groom, you have a lot less on your to-do list than the bride. That doesn’t mean you can’t master the things you do need to know and show up ready to go, ahead of schedule and with time to relax!
Here are 3 things we know you usually don’t think about on the daily, so you may want to practice and wrap your head around them in advance, with plenty of time before your actual wedding day:
1. How to tie your bow tie (watch THIS video and practice in advance!)... or buy a pre-tied one. We won’t tell. Pro Tip: PLEASE don't just start watching YouTube videos the minute we show up!
2. Similarly, how to pin your boutonniere on. Ask your florist for tips on attaching it and/or make sure someone who will be with you while you’re getting ready (either another groomsmen or your mom) has done it before and feels comfortable with that responsibility! The last thing we’d want is to spend time waiting for 10 guys to figure this out and have to help each other get theirs on before we can start taking photos. Your mom is always welcome to pin yours on if she is dressed and can be in the pictures, but help for all the other groomsmen is what we see often lacking and very much needed.
3. When the photographer is ready to take your getting ready photos, you should be 90% of the way dressed! No one wants photos of you in a t-shirt and boxers on your wedding day. ;)
If you are getting ready in a hotel room and we are starting photos there, all the groomsmen should be fully dressed. As the groom, you should have your shirt and pants on with your tie, shoes, socks (the more fun, the better: colorful stripes? fave sports team? ode to MD?), cuff links, watch and any other meaningful items, in one spot for us to capture right before you put them on. Getting ready photos actually means photographing you as you get your jacket and shoes on, putting the final touches on your tie / cuff links and buttoning your jacket.
If you are meeting us at another location to have your portraits taken (for example, at the spot where you’ll have your first look or even outside the church or venue), then we’ll just capture portraits of you 100% ready to go - adjusting your tie / cuff links and buttoning your jacket make for beautiful and classic getting ready shots.
What NOT to have nearby…
Piles of clothes / bags / food / beverages strewn about. A little tidying up in the room (or corner of the room) that gets the most natural light will go a long way and make your photos that much better!
If you’re able to quickly do all of these things, just think of what it really means: you can pour another glass of bourbon, scotch or grab a can of Natty Boh and relax with the guys. ;)
