melanie + james | a festive summer wedding at Harwood Farm, Maryland

With a sign that said “we’ve waited 2,932 days for this. party accordingly.”, you can only imagine how incredibly fun and festive this wedding was!

Summertime is their favorite, so Mel + James’ Harwood Farm wedding in early July celebrated not only their love story, but everything they love about summer… bbq, ice cream, sparklers, yummy drinks, bright and cheery summer florals and one heck of an outdoor party with their friends and family. The clouds were super dramatic towards the end of the night and we luckily snuck these portraits and the sparkler exit in right before the sky poured down rain!!

Seeing these two sweethearts finally married involved so much joy, excitement and laughter - seriously, SO happy for you guys!

6 of my favorite details and moments from Mel + James’ modern, romantic and summery wedding:

1. Their first touch while standing back to back and reading notes that they had each written for the other, before their first look. Such a fun way to share a private moment together before walking down the aisle!

2. Mel’s entire bridal look. Not gonna lie, I loved every single thing: her hair, her dress (the straps that draped off her shoulders added such a fun element of romance and intrigue), her bouquet… it all came together so perfectly.

3. The signage, invitation suite and all paper goods designed by Little Orange Studio were modern, crisp, fun and so thoughtfully crafted.

4. The checkered dance floor under the sailcloth tent added elegance, contrast and interest to the party space.

5. The ice cream cart Mel and her family refurbished and stocked with ice cream sammies and bomb pops since it was July 3… :)

6. The biodegradable confetti used as they were announced husband and wife, walking back down the aisle for the recessional as well as the wedding party group photos… SO FUN AND FESTIVE!

Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Davis!! Married life looks SO good on you already. I still remember when you shared your engagement news with me - I knew right away that your wedding was going to be an unforgettable day! Your style and vision, your bond and your love story and let’s be honest, your love of dogs, is all so inspiring… you two are destined for big things and I’m so honored I was able to document the official start to your marriage!

jessica + william (aka swinny) | an intimate summer elopement at the Sagamore Pendry

This wedding day has been 10 years in the making and I’m so honored to have been able to document the love and passion between Jessica and Swinny!

These stylish lovebirds were married at the stunning Sagamore Pendry in historic Fells Point in late July and the weather was unheard of for a Baltimore summer day: it was warm but not too hot and humid, breezy with fluffy clouds in the bright blue sky and we had the courtyard of the Pendry all to ourselves… yay for intimate weekday weddings!

Their favorite things about each other in their words (I can’t even… they are such a perfect pair!):

Swinny: “Her aura, beauty, intellect, attitude, energy and vibe. Our life is amazing and I am so blessed to have found someone who I absolutely love and adore on every level imaginable!”

Jessica: “Never have I met someone who has such a passion for life, people, and us. His sense of humor, ability to connect with people - whether it be a waiter or a friend, is contagious. He gives me butterflies when my eyes meet his across a room and I’ve never felt more loved or respected than when with him. Life is so easy between us and I cannot wait to spend the rest of our days together!”

MY FAVORITE 5 THINGS ABOUT THEIR FELLS POINT ELOPEMENT AT THE PENDRY:

1. The pure joy they both exuded. The excitement was palpable and so genuine.

2. The wording and script of the ceremony (performed by Rachel Zajac of Ceremony by Rachel) was incredibly heartfelt, personalized and full of warmth. I love how she describes marriage…
   
   ”Marriage is the most beautiful thing that can happen between two people in love. A marriage is more than just husband and wife. It is a bridge which allows the love of two special people to give meaning and worth and wonder to life. It is a continual process of building; of shaping; of communicating; of caring. It is the deepest and sweetest understanding. It is sharing todays and tomorrows together and making each one more treasured and more complete than anyone could make alone. A marriage is a home interwoven with hopes and memories and dreams. The thankfulness and love it can bring have no comparison.”
   

3. They both wore Christian Louboutins with the iconic and classic red sole. His and hers (in gold though)… OBSESSED!

4. Swinny had a custom navy black and blue tux made by the QG. Jessica wore a one shoulder ruffled gown by Mac Duggal.

5. Their daughters are an integral part of their relationship; Jessica’s daughter walked her down the aisle and both were included in the ceremony during the family vows.

Congratulations, Jessica and Swinny (and to your daughters)!! I couldn’t be more excited for your newlywed status; your wedding was breathtaking and left me completely speechless… I truly believe you’re ‘simply the best’.

guienen + ed | a romantic summer mini wedding on the bay

Guienen and Ed were married at Herrington on the Bay during one of the hottest days of the year, but you’d never know it! They were such an incredibly patient couple with all of my ideas for portraits at this beautiful garden venue on the Chesapeake Bay… July weddings aren’t for the faint at heart when it comes to the humidity and heat!

I loved this spot for their first look - Ed was such a calm and cool groom waiting for his beautiful bride!!

Sadie, was the best flower pup in all the land! She set the bar high for all future #urbanrowpup wedding party members; we couldn’t have done it without the help of the Furever & Fur Always dog care team!!

Guienen’s bridesmaids wore stunning summer sage green Jenny Yoo Inesse dresses in a watercolor floral print paired with bouquets of a single flower variety: ranunculus, lisianthus and roses to complete the modern, elegant and romantic bayside look.

The beaded detail on Guienen’s Enaura gown was absolutely stunning while shimmering and sparkling in the sun; the pattern added a soft, subtle, whimsical touch to her bridal look!

I loved Guienen’s color palette and vision for the intimate dinner tablescape; farmhouse tables paired with white chiavari chairs, white vases, white flowers and white hand-lettered (all by the bride!) hosta leaf escort cards, brought the modern bayside look together in an understated and elegant way! The focaccia provided just the right pop of mustard yellow to coordinate and compliment the vases.

Cheers, newlyweds!! Can’t wait to celebrate together even bigger next July!

kim + joe | an intimate summer wedding at stone gables estate

Falling in love while quarantined during Covid, Kim and Joe knew very quickly that they had a special connection and were meant to be together…

Celebrating at Stone Gables Estate in Elizabethtown, PA provided a beautiful and serene setting with multiple ceremony backdrops to choose from for their summer micro wedding. Kim and Joe stayed at the Liberty Spring House and chose to have their intimate ceremony overlooking the lake, adjacent to the historic Star Barn.

Sharing a love of dogs, this sweet, thoughtful and loving couple wanted to celebrate their unique love story among a close group of friends and family and I was absolutely honored to be a part of it! Their energy, emotion and smiles just say it all. Kim has this incredible laugh that makes you feel so welcome and at ease… and Joe has this quiet, goodhearted nature about him that makes you want nothing but the best for such a wonderful couple.

Kim shared with me that something Joe dreamed about since he was a boy, was to find a woman that he wanted to buy a Tiffany’s ring for… not only do they each now have Tiffany’s rings, Joe’s daughter Danielle wore a beautiful dress that carried a Tiffany’s blue ombre tone throughout the ceremony.

After the ceremony, we explored part of the 275 acre property up near the barn, taking photos in front of the stunning iron gate enclosing St. Michael’s vineyard and the Grande Gazebo as well as in and around the stunning Star Barn.

Congratulations, newlyweds!! You chose one of the most serene, picturesque and relaxing venues to start your married life together; I can’t wait to see where your relationship takes you and am so grateful to have been able to document your memories!

sneak peeks | lynn + nick's intimate summer wedding at wyndridge farm

“we are a little weird and life’s a little weird,
and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours,
we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness
and call it love.” ~Dr. Seuss

Nick’s sister read this quote as she officiated their ceremony under a bright blue sky on the steps of the outdoor chapel at Wyndridge Farm on Saturday. Their love story began the old-fashioned way, online… ;) and Lynn “knew Nick was special on our first date. He was socially oblivious, but sweet, very handsome, and most importantly, smart.”

They designed and created so many of the details for their wedding, namely the cakes and flowers which aren’t easy to do yourself, but they blew me away. The way Lynn lights up whenever Nick’s by her side is my favorite part of their relationship - such genuine joy, kindness, respect, a sense of humor and solid teamwork kicked off the start of their marriage!

Lynn’s bouquet was exclusively garden roses in every shade of pink and it was so lush, full and fluffy. I love garden roses for all their layers upon layers of gorgeous texture! It was such a pretty look for an outdoor summer wedding against the chic and simple timelessness of her off-the-shoulder Theia wedding dress from Garnish Boutique.

I also couldn’t get over her pearl cathedral veil - it was so elegant, dotted with pearls of different sizes throughout the entire length.

Based on their obsession with the Great British Baking Show (which made it’s way into their vows too) and all things sweets, you know their marriage is off to an incredible start when the groom designs, creates and bakes the wedding cake AND 12 other mini cakes. MIC DROP. He just wanted cakes that look and taste good, so why not?!

The mini cakes were the centerpieces at each table - I love this idea because it’s not only functional, but gorgeous and uniquely personalized to them! It also allowed guests to be an interactive part of the cake cutting since they each had a table cake to cut and enjoy right away. LOVE IT.

During the mother son dance, Nick picked his mom up and twirled her around the dance floor… cue all the happy tears! Lynn and her mom danced a waltz together that was so beautifully choreographed and full of never-ending smiles as they floated around the spacious dance floor.

With District Remix keeping the energy high and the dance moves epic, this was a party that didn’t want to end! Speaking of epic, we had to head outside for one final shot at the end of the night - rain or not, it’s so much fun to sneak away for a few minutes to make magic outside before the night is over!

Cheers to you, newlyweds!! We are SO happy and honored to have captured these memories for you and wish you all the bowls and bags of candy your happy hearts desire now that the wedding is over and wedding diets are a distant memory! ;)
