I spent a perfect early summer evening with Caren + Jan in Mt. Vernon recently and it was so much fun to explore this historic Baltimore neighborhood together through their eyes!Read More

While on opposing trivia teams, Keri and Patrick met at the Ottobar, a neighborhood bar not far from where they used to live. Witty banter eventually turned into serious conversation as they spent more and more time together before, after and outside of trivia happy hours... Patrick knew how much Keri's close college friends meant to her, so he knew he wanted to involve them in his proposal. The rest of their sweet love story is summarized here, from our time during their Wyman Park engagement session!
The intimate and cozy Stone Manor B&B was absolutely perfect for a meaningful, relaxing way to celebrate with the people they love! I wish more couples would indulge in the luxury of a weekend getaway wedding (or maybe I just wish we had for our wedding!). :)
This moment where Keri's mom helped button up the back of her dress may be one of my absolute favorite; Pride. Love. Joy. Excitement... as a mom myself, I'm no stranger to the emotion-filled ride that is motherhood!
I can't get over how stunning Keri looked and how perfectly her lace illusion back Allure Bridals dress complimented the romantic, garden aesthetic of the manor's grounds! I love that she left her curly hair untouched, other than a headband. Isn't she absolutely breathtaking?!
As Keri and the girls were getting ready (in the largest bridal suite I've ever seen!), Patrick and his brother used the opportunity to make some final adjustments to his coral polka dotted pocket square and tie. #coraleverythingplease
Their first look was one of the most unique first looks I've ever captured... peeking out among a set of juliet balconies inside the manor!
Keri's dad, a retired minister, performed the ceremony and her brother walked her down the aisle... cue the happy tears!
I was definitely drooling as I was photographing the cookie dessert table... not only were they delicious, but an extremely popular Pittsburgh tradition! Who knew!?!
I couldn't get over the dancers they had in their presence!
We were so honored to capture each and every moment of your day and wish you nothing but the best as you continue to learn and discover more trivia facts about each other with each passing happy celebration. ;)
Cheers! xoxo, N

Earlier this month I had one of the best workshop experiences I could have imagined; I'm still on a high from all of what I learned! Michelle from Lieb Photographic is one of the most genuine, inspiring and talented photographers and mentors I've ever met. This is one of those crazy awesome circumstances that I have social media (specifically Instagram!) to thank for connecting us many months ago. Another reason I totally believe everything happens for a reason and a larger purpose...!
I've been dying to share highlights of the Summer's End workshop - we participated in 2 styled shoots that were made possible thanks to the most fabulous wedding vendors in Culpeper, VA. Without further ado, grab a copper mug with your cold drink of choice (a moscow mule, perhaps?) and settle in for a dose of 'copper + candelight' goodness! Our shoot focused on 'Southern Blooms' will be coming at ya in a separate blog post, so stay tuned to this space! You do NOT want to miss it, I promise!
How fun are these geometric placesettings?! I love how they complemented the copper chargers and added a more linear element to contrast with the romantic calligraphy of the escort cards.
Jordan + Jonathan absolutely killed it in the modeling department, as far as I'm concerned. They are a married couple in real life and were so comfortable in front of our paparrazzi crew - even though it was so hot and humid all day long! Jordan wore a beaded vintage chiffon Saja wedding dress and Jonathan sported a tan suit from The Black Tux... didn't they look incredible!?!
I couldn't get over how even the bottom of her bouquet had such amazing copper detailing to it thanks to the talent of Good Earth Flowers... nothing was overlooked in the styling and execution of this entire shoot while working with the Girls from Main Street!
I have to stop and mention that Jordan of Elisabeth Jordan Calligraphy is also the artist that created this invitation suite, the menu and escort cards... simply breathtaking.
At the end of the night we went outside and got to try some OCF (off-camera flash) techniques using umbrellas and LED light-up balloons! Now I not only can't wait for it to rain, but I want to bring light-up balloons to every party I go to, HA.
I'd highly recommend any of these vendors if you're getting married in the VA/DC area - they were so creative and fun to work with!

The first time I met Jordyn and Tim, it was a cold January day with windy snow flurries breezing through the city. During their engagement session, it was also pretty chilly and we had to get creative in keeping everyone moving to stay warm! On their wedding day, it was a perfectly warm June day with bright blue skies and beaming sunshine. Even mother nature was excited for their big day. :) They initially described to me that their vision for their wedding day was a romantic and elegant celebration that incorporated close family and friends; it was exactly that and more. I love, love, love seeing a couple's vision come together and tell the story of not only the day they become husband and wife, but the moments and stories that have gotten them to this day!
Timeless beauty found it's way throughout each and every detail; Jordyn's lace Maggie Sottero wedding dress, the floor length blush pink bridesmaids dresses and gold sequined junior bridesmaids dresses were ahhh-mazing and so perfectly complimentary to the soft, romantic theme.
Jordyn + Tim's engagement session also had a refined garden sensibility about it, where the girls wore the sweetest spring colored dresses and Jordyn had both pink and green on, a nod to their wedding colors?!
I absolutely love working with Ellen of Local Color Flowers and when I heard that she was providing all of the floral details, I knew we were going to be blown away... I could have photographed that bouquet all day, with every detail next to it. I honestly had to force myself to take it out of some of the photos, ha!
I was honestly speechless when I saw her shoes and the dress' edge detail together - it's like they were made for each other!
Tim, you had such dapper style with that bowtie, the green suspenders and matching socks...
Ummm, let's just talk about these flower crowns for a second, shall we? How sweet and adorable are they!? It doesn't hurt that Tim's 3 girls are the most down to earth, well-mannered, loving and gorgeous young ladies I've ever met. I can only hope my daughter grows up to be just like them.
First look LOVE! This spot in Mt. Vernon is one of my favorites: an incredibly lush urban space with numerous stately and historic rowhomes lining the park. All of the pastel color within the gardens and building details were THE perfect backdrop for their first time seeing each other!
Time for some of the best groom's looks ever, as he watched his stunning bride walk down the aisle to meet him... in one of the most beautiful churches I've ever seen.
After portraits in the park, we made our way down to Todd Conner's on Broadway in Fells Point. This bar is where Jordyn and Tim met for the first time by way of their mutual friend Kevin, and it was so much fun taking a break from the formal nature of the wedding day, to toast to the happy couple in the spot where it all began!
The Admiral Fell Inn in the heart of Fells Point (one of my favorite historic Baltimore neighborhoods!), seemed to literally glow with golden love for these two. Every detail was thought through and perfectly executed by friends and family to add to the feel of their elegant reception. Jordyn's mom and Tim's daughter assembled the books that made up the table centerpieces; the table numbers were borrowed from a close friend of Jordyn's from JMU. Jordyn's dad built the gift card box and her mom made the ribbon - their whole family is so talented and creative!
And then this happened... :)
To end quite a memorable day, we had to head outside to capitalize on portraits during golden hour and celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs. along the water!
I can't say it enough, but you two are so, so perfect together! You completely compliment each other in every way; your passion and fun-loving nature will create the foundation for an incredibly joyful and successful marriage for years to come! Best wishes! xoxo

Last Fall, Keri and I connected through a friend of a friend, as a result of a styled shoot I did with In A Bow Event Design! I can't say it enough (wait a minute, now I sound like my dad...), but it really is all about who you know. So glad I know the right people! ;) Keri and Patrick met playing trivia on opposing teams, one night at the Otto Bar just south of the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus. They both have a penchant for making the other laugh; their smiles and compassionate nature are quick to put you at ease while in their presence.
They used to walk their dog in Wyman Park and love the quiet, tucked away nature of it. I did too! As we were shooting, I kept wanting to sit down and have a picnic among the big trees, dappled sun and low rock walls.
I just love the expressions Keri makes while in Patrick's arms. And you know how I have a thing for curly hair... us curly hair girls need to stick together! ;)
This might be my favorite photo of our session... the golden light peeking through the trees, the flowers spotted throughout the grass and an adorable couple in love!
How cute are they?! Not to mention the fact that we were in a garden oasis somewhere with perfect weather. Our session occurred right after a few days of strong, rainy weather and I think Mother Nature was showing off as much greenery and lushness as she could muster!
See? Lush garden oasis, for real. :)
After strolling the garden, we walked over to the Newsletter Office, right at the base of the sculpture garden. It's the sweetest little stone building, accessible by a tiny, narrow wooden walkway... perfect for a fun-loving couple! ;)
So, let's take a quick timeout and mention the fact that the original plan had us exploring the sculpture garden just behind this building... it was open when we first arrived to location scout, I got all excited for it and then an hour later, CLOSED. Bummer!!! But, instead we explored the surrounding gates and ivy-covered walls of the BMA. I'm pretty happy with how these came out!
And I have to end on this image, another one of my favorites. Talk about classic romance... Keri + Patrick, we had a blast exploring the area together and can't wait for your August wedding!
I knew from the first time we met at the Daily Grind in Fells Point, that Sara and Jake were an incredible couple and would be so much fun to get to know. As soon as Sara mentioned they just bought their first house near Patterson Park and wanted photos that tell the story of the start of their relationship together in Baltimore while living an urban lifestyle, I couldn't stop smiling - their story is so similar to mine! While celebrating Sara's mom's 60th birthday, Jake told Sara they should take their dogs, "Rizzo and Natty for a swim off the end of the pier..." With flowers and champagne setup , Jake knew how to not only surprise Sara but involve the entire family in celebrating their love. A homecooked shrimp scampi dinner was waiting for them after she said yes. :)
Your warmth is contagious and I love how genuinely happy you make each other. Congratulations again, Sara and Jake! So excited for your wedding this September (which happens to be a very meaningful date - the same September day that Sara's parents and sister were both married)! Isn't that just the sweetest tradition?!
For devoted Star Wars fans and science geeks that loved the idea of exchanging vows under a starry sky (with the exact sky from their first date, mind you. During the ceremony, the sky transitioned to their wedding date! Technology is amazing...), the Maryland Science Center was quite the perfect fit for Kristina and Ed's Baltimore wedding! These two are so perfect together - they have a quiet, calm sensibility about them but I just love how with one look from Kristina, Ed's face breaks out into the biggest smile you've ever seen. The bridal party got ready at the Lord Baltimore Hotel on Baltimore St. It was the perfect historic setting to contrast the contemporary architecture of the Science Center where they exchanged vows and celebrated as husband and wife!!
Kristina gave her girls gold Kate Spade charm bracelets that had the words 'Partner In Crime' engraved and were the perfect accessory with their bordeaux bridesmaid gowns. All of Kristina's jewelry was exquisite; just the right amount of sparkle to create a timeless and classic look. The necklace Ed gave her brought tears to my eyes!
Ed has 4 brothers. My second photographer (who happens to be my husband!) has 5 brothers, so he was completely at home with the idea of lots of men getting ready together in a small hotel room. There were so many fun, candid moments of guys just being guys. We searched for the perfect location for their first look and at the last minute, stumbled on the overlook to the hotel's ballroom. This intimate series is one of my favorites from their day.
Congratulations, newlyweds! Here's to many more years of dancing under the stars together. :)

It's been awhile since I've been to the Catskills, and driven through the windy mountainous NY highway roads lined with trees, lakes and small town main streets. But wow, does that sort of fresh air do wonders for your soul! At the end of August, Karen and Steve (the 5th brother-in-law out of 6 to get married, and the other half of the twins that get married this summer!) were married at one of the most picturesque and totally 'them' locations you could imagine: the 400-acre Stone Tavern Farm with horses, barns, a swimmable lake, hiking trails, campsites, log cabins to stay in, paintball...! It was an epic wedding weekend. I brought my camera with me in hopes of capturing just some of the beauty, excitement and memories being made.
The cabin we stayed in overlooked an enormous field of wildflowers and each morning you'd wake up to an incredibly quiet and peaceful fog that would burn off by lunchtime. Intricate spider webs were everywhere and I was enamored. This was just the start of one of them...
The weather was unbelievably perfect. Every view was more picturesque than the next.
How stunning is Karen's wedding dress?! I was obsessed. She looked incredible!
Vinny, one of the 6 brothers, was their officiant and he was SO good in that role. The perfect blend of humor, romance, and marriage advice. :) Side note, did you notice that incredible oak tree they got married in front of and the handmade cedar chuppah? So simply beautiful.
You'll notice that I prioritized dancing and family time, since the photos stop after we entered the barn following cocktail hour... :)
Steve + Karen, you both are destined for an amazing journey in your careers as doctors, amongst your friends and family with so much heartfelt love and between the two of you...the way you simply look at each other can light up a barn. Your wedding weekend was the perfect balance of relaxing and energizing. We love you so much and can't wait to celebrate more happy occasions in the future! I have no doubt that any future family gatherings you host will always continue until 2am with plenty of good music, food and beer/wine flowing. ;)
Golden light, incredible views and an abundance of love filled the air at The Overlook at Geer Farm as Vito + Ali were married. Everything about their day was unique and completely breathtaking. I had the pleasure of being a guest at their wedding...a guest who was so glad to have brought my camera with me. :) Vito is my brother-in-law and even though they just got married this year, I've never known Vito without Ali. I still remember their college graduation weekend at Vassar like it was last month. Ali is one of the sweetest and most genuine people you'll ever meet. Vito is smart, funny, thoughtful and with his twin brother Steven (who is getting married in 2 weeks!), makes every family gathering incredibly entertaining.
Vito managed to weave Ali's gorgeous red hair, getting older together and the Periodic Table of Elements into one of the best speeches I've ever heard:
"Did you know that titanium alloy is significantly stronger than true titanium? And do you know why? When they make titanium alloy, they add 6% aluminum, Al...and 4% vanadium, V...
Aging and life are corrosive; and it will eventually wear us both out. But that's where our bond will bring us value. Together, we two elements form an alloy that's entirely corrosion resistant.
Al, you complete me." :)
The way they make each other smile is contagious and so heartwarming. You may remember their smiles from their engagement session I photographed back when we still had snow on the ground!
You two are so strong in not only your bond and love for each other, but of love for your family and friends as well. It was my honor to be a part of your day and the official start of your married life together. We love you both so much and wish you a fully corrosion resistant life ahead. ;)
Sarah and Will tied the knot in a gorgeous outdoor ceremony at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis on a perfect sunny Saturday afternoon! The sweltering heat didn't stop us from capturing an incredible series of moments during their first look together. From the moment I first met Sarah and Will in person at their engagement session in Patapsco State Park, I could tell their love for each other is full of joy, a gentle touch and a level of compassion and trust in each other that is so heartwarming and comforting to see. Their families live in the Baltimore-Annapolis area, Europe and many places in between. The groom's sister made their amazing wedding "cake" once she arrived in the states; the piece montee, a traditional French dessert, was so unique and delicious! Every detail was carefully planned and executed from Sarah's great-grandmother's pearl pin attached to her bouquet to the hand-painted world map guest sign-in art.
The group shot of everyone right after the ceremony was a great idea Sarah had mentioned to me. Now they'll always have a photo with every single person in attendance - something not many weddings end up having. My absolute favorite shots occurred thanks to Sarah and Will making it a priority to sneak away for some private moments of just the two of them in the park right after being pronounced husband and wife!
We were absolutely honored to capture this special time in Sarah and Will's lives! Congratulations newlyweds!

I love meeting new couples as much as I love discovering new places to photograph. Oh, and I love dog people. Sarah and Will's engagement session encompassed all of that, so it was pretty much the best thing ever.
In November, they travelled all the way up from North Carolina to have their photographs taken in advance of their upcoming wedding (in 2 weeks!). The wedding will be at Quiet Waters Park, right on the water near Annapolis. We agreed on Patapsco State Park for their engagement shoot since a wooded area with access to water was their ideal location and Sarah's family used to go this specific park all the time while growing up...win win!
More often than not, the couples I photograph aren't used to being in front of the camera and are a bit nervous. I don't blame them - I remember when Anthony and I had our engagement photos taken...it's nervewracking...where do I put my hands? does this pose make my neck look weird (since I tend to contort my neck for some odd reason in every photograph, thinking I look better but in reality looking so silly!)? did I just blink? does my smile look forced since I've had to smile almost consecutively for the last 23 minutes? Anyway, I can tell you that Sarah and Will are incredibly photogenic and needed barely any coaching from me other than where to stand for the best light. This was definitely one of my favorite engagement sessions to date and they are complete model material, wouldn't you agree?! :) Seriously, watching them warmed my heart; they are completely adorable and their love is so genuinely sweet.
I just love how they look at each other with such admiration and pure joy.
This is a perfect example of why I highly encourage all couples to get in front of the camera before their big day: it allows you to become confident while we photograph you from a variety of different angles and it allows us to learn what poses work best to capture you naturally and in the moment. And, most importantly it's a fun way to document your love in an informal, casual setting!
How gorgeous and memorable is her engagement ring?!
May 30 will be here SO soon and we can not wait to photograph your wedding! You're going to be a stunning couple and your day promises to be nothing short of amazing amongst all of your family and friends with a backdrop of water and woods!
these words were the way the bride described her vision of their wedding day and it absolutely came true! from the moment we drove up to Strong Mansion, I knew this wedding was going to be one of my all-time favorites. Ahna left no detail untouched and never stopped smiling. all. day.
How incredible is her dress?! That lace, the scalloped edge, the buttons up the back...
Fleeting family moments like these make me so thankful that I get to preserve memories forever. :)
The ceremony was so serene and picturesque - the foliage alone was stunning! Not to mention their vows which they wrote themselves and made everyone laugh till they cried.
A large bridal party can sometimes be challenging to work with but this crew was nothing short of amazing! They were cooperative, fun, goofy, and only needed minimal direction before we got a series of perfect shots of everyone together...they made our job easy. :)
Now let's talk about how gorgeous our couples always are - these two are so incredibly cute together! They just exude happiness, so it's no wonder everyone always smiles while around them!
It's hard for me to identify a favorite part of the wedding day since I love so many aspects of it for different reasons, but once Ahna + Jared's reception started and introductions were made, everyone's personality started to shine (I suppose a few cocktail hour drinks may have had something to do with it...) and the happiness level skyrocketed into high gear.
I think these final photos completely speak to not only A+J's wedding, but their relationship. We were honored to capture your big day and wish you and your families nothing but a life filled with love, laughter, spontaneity, silliness and relaxing weekends full of watching your favorite teams, good friends and plenty of wine. ;)
So much love to both of you!
I'll never forget meeting Melissa and Jim for the first time, a year ago this month. We met over coffee, bonded over our common interests (architecture and design, city rowhouse living, good food and beer...what's not to love?!) and learned of the phrase that would absolutely set the tone for their big day: "we want our guests to feel like they're at a good party that just happens to be a wedding". :) The ceremony and reception were both held at Of Love & Regret, located on the border between Canton and Brewer's Hill, sitting right under the glowing eye of Mr. (Natty) Boh's tower. It's a fitting view for a place that serves an amazing selection of Stillwater Artisanal Ales and some of the tastiest burgers in town.
Melissa and Jim have an incredible connection for one another; their love is tangible, entertaining, heart-warming, timeless and constantly makes you laugh.
All of the accessories Melissa chose were stunning, meaningful and had the perfect level of sparkle.
While I was with the ladies, Anthony was with the guys at M+J's rowhouse. What a great day to be up on a roof top deck!
The first look is always one of my favorite moments! Their house served as the perfect backdrop.
Henderson's Wharf will always be one of my favorite places to photograph!
Of Love & Regret is the perfect blend of all the best aspects of Baltimore - it's an unassuming, corner rowhouse restaurant + bar with an incredibly diverse draught beer selection, a simple yet creative menu and a wait staff that will make you feel like you've known them for years.
Another favorite moment from the day? The bride entering through the fire escape stairs. In heels.
Before the sun completely left us, we snuck outside for some fun photos with the new Mr. and Mrs.! I love the way they radiate happiness.
I hope you both had as wonderful a "party" as you had imagined! It was our absolute pleasure to photograph you, your families and all of the romance, laughter and love that you share. Best wishes for the start of an incredible life together!
